My new car?!

OMFG!
you need to be a pro to change the headlight bulbs on the Megane! :O
you either have to be stretch armstrong, take the bumper off and/or take the headlamp unit out! :O

apparently some guy's taken it to halfrauds to let them change it... and they won't touch the megane 2 :(

what have i bought!

That's a shame, was dead easy on the Megen 1....!

Some things move forward, others move backwards and are forgotten.

Hope you found out otherwise when you get a chance.

I know what you think Steve....:p

Citroen has less character than a over cooked brussel sprout.

As you know, we have owned this laguna for years and it is fine. Just like you have owned fiats for a long time and had no troubles.

You can't seriously say that Citroens have no character!? They are one of the most innovative motor companies in the world. I'm not talking about the Saxo, Xsara, ect... Older Citroens, and increasingly the newer Citroens are very different to anything other makers are doing. The C4 is actually a fantastic looking car.

So are the megens....and the avantime.

For a while Citroen built the ZX, XM, Xantia and AX, so classless they even had names to show that fact. Then they replaced the xantia with the C5 "lump". I admit things are starting to look up for them.

Think Steve, my family wouldn't run them if they were bad cars now would we?!

I'm not a fan of French cars at all and as for Renault I positively despise the entire range of ugly rear ends on their models. I agree with Steve though Citreon are a lot better, we had a BX (the old estste), not stylish maybe but God was that a good car. Particularly the pump up suspension and general build quality.

The new cars have a lot of character, more I think than the ass campaign Renault have generated. I like the C5, it's huge and therefore very expensive but I don't think it looks too bad, better than Mondeo/vectra anyway. The C2 is horrible with it's doors that don't line up but the C3 and C4 both look great and apparently they're well made too.

The megane has been a huge sales success in the UK, that's enough said really, it really is a love/hate thing but I am happy with that as love it.

And the Renault 25 could tell you via voice that your brake light was out in 1987!

Yes and Renault also introduced the "plip" central looking as far back as 1986 on the 5 Turbo as a standard feature, mine still worked when I sold my 1990 model 2 years ago. In 6 years of owning 5 Turbo's the only electrical failure I ever had was when the aftermarket immobiliser decided it was not going to let the car start and the AA man took 2 hours to hack my loom apart to bypass it & start it and then it cost me £120ish to get a new loom wired in & £150ish for a new immobiliser at the same time!

I'm not a French car lover by any means, I do have 2 Italian cars with all their foibles after all, but no one can deny that they have made some truly great accessible car's over the years, Peugeot 205 GTi, 205T16, 306 GTi-6, 106 Rallye Mark 1, 106 GTi, Renault 5 Turbo & Turbo 2 + Maxi Turbo, 5 GT Turbo, Clio Williams, 172 Cup Sport, 182 Cup Sport, Clio V6 MK2, Citroen DS, Pallas turbo (gti)? but you can easily think of a handful of good cars from every nation with at least a hundred duds! :D

I hacked out the IR receiver unit from a '89 21 hatchback actually for a GCSE project, provided exactly what I needed (IIRC, 12v output signal low current to ground which I was going to use to my PIC chop), eventually blew it (what you get for letting your mates play with it) so used RF instead of IR which was a hell of alot more difficult but I learnt a lot more.

I assume you're being sarcastic right?

If not, Stu told me the diesel engines are HDis, they are built in France.....infact the main Italian item is the connect + right?

Yes I am. The closest our Ulysse has been to Italy was when we went to the local Italian restaurant :).

The Ulysse is made in France and the only input from Italy is some of the electronics, which I think is optimistic considering the Italian reputation for electrics.

i can't believe i'm actually gonna agree with paul and say renaults are better than citroen.
C4 hatch is rally ugly imo... though the coupe is alright!
and the megane is a love/hate thing like marmite. i didn't like it at first, but i've grown to it.

Everybody seems to think Fiat build quality is bad, but if the Ulysse is an example of Peugeot's build quality then Fiat has nothing to worry about.

The Connect system in the Ulysse built by Magnet Marrelli [Stilo is by Visteon], and the call centre is in Turin...

Don't forget the FIAT badges ;)
