Hi there, i have a MK2 Uno, the only problem is that it isn't a turbo. The previous owner dropped a standard 1.4 engine in it but its SLOW as it weights 1400KG, due to the speakers.
It currently has 16 subs and 34 speakers and is in this momnths issue of Max Power :D

Search: 'fiat uno 16 subs' in youtube and have a look and tell me what you think..?

I need a turbo engine to finish this beast off!!!

Someone help me pleeease..

Have you thought about taking some of the speakers out to reduce the weight?

I have found 1 sub and 4 speakers (one in each corner of the car) more than adequate.

It would also be a lot cheaper than getting a turbo engine. Not to mention the reduced petrol costs. And the far lower insurance premium. :)

ive seen this car before, there is no point in removing any of the speakers, that is the whole point of this car!

i seem to remember it has punto Gt brakes witha punto gt master cylinder? make sure it does, and get some decent pads and disks, then some decent tyres and suspension.

then you can set about putting a UT engine.

Remember your not in the best car for crashing in in the first place, and it made worse by the fact that you cant stop or turn due to how fat it is, you will have to be carful with a UT lump in there becasue you will get yourself into sticky situations.

the best place to start is aquiring a written off or rusted to death UT.

Come to think of it..
...most insurers won't insure a modified car unless the driver is over a certain age, and have a certain amount of no claims bonii.

This car is already quite well known to the forum as it's made a few appearances in the Auction Watch section. It was in there recently as it was listed on Ebay a week or so back. The seller last year was convinced it was worth £2.5 - £3K, though from what I recall of the recent auction it went for around £1500.

By the sounds of it (no pun intended!) it really is lugging around a lot of weight. Even if you drop a turbo engine in the handling will be rather interesting in corners because of the weight issue. Perhaps it's best not to up the power too much otherwise you may be chasing ditches rather often ;)

standard uno weighs in at about 850 kilos, and has 105bhp....that's about 127bhp/ton....give or take

you are dragging 1400kilos:eek: stick in a stock turbo lump, you are down to 75bhp/ton

to get close you need about 180bhp+....this still won't be enough though, as all that weight dragging through your mid range push, will simply hold you back.

throw her into a corner, and newton will be tapping on your shoulder, try to stop, and those brake, marginal at best, will do an excellent job of hoiking you through whatever is off the road.

you bought a show car, accept it, use and run it like one. turbo engine will do nothing for you, at best you'll notice a slight improvement, then you'll fit a bleed valve, turn up the boost, and grenade the engine.....

For future notice, please post 'wanted ads' in https://www.fiatforum.com/classifieds/showcat.php?cat=7 (y)

Meanwhile I think this thread has great advice, especially from 1986Uno45S and Jai. Taking excess weight out of my Uno Turbo was the best thing I've done to it. Every kilogram you save is a kilogram less to accelerate, and a kilogram less to get around a corner.

But you have a show car. It's never going to be a racer. End of story :)

Hi to the OP mate nice to see some of you guys over here. Im sure that the extra power is needed to just get from A-B, he obviously knows he's not going to be taking corners at roundabouts. The point is (i think) that if going to meets and events its a bit dangerous on the Motor way at 30MPH but if you can get closer too 50mph then it makes things a lot easier.

Right back on topic the First thing to say to the people on here is what alts your using maybe somebody has a crack pot idea on how to get your car moving faster than the Panda's do (y)
