Yesterday I had to get to work in Oakham from where is I live in Leicester. Thats about 30 miles and takes about 3/4 hour. I had to fill up with petrol because after work I was also planning on going to Coventry to the Colloseum to see Electric 6 so about a 90 mile round trip planned. Anyway, on my way to pick up a work mate, a lovely nail landed in my front right! Side of the road wheel change and also in the process my crappy Fiat jack dethreadded and collapsed.
After a speedy 10 min change, off again. Drove the balls off it to Oakham because I was late there. Got there on time. I went to a long stay car park and I couldnt find a space so I parked it in a safe place in there and then returned in a hour after my tour bus had gone round and some c**t had plonked a lovely £30 fine on my windscreen. Lovely. Oh, I found a space.
Next, on my way back to Leicester to pick up the missus from work on the way to Coventry in the evening I got stuck behind a horse and cart on the A47. The passengers could tell they were annoying me as I could'nt pass due to the curvy road so they were laughing. Finally got by and then about 1/4 mile down the road my car started to judder. My foot was'nt resting on the clutch. THE dreaded light of ALL fiat owners went on my dashboard. It continued to judder so I pulled over in a layby and restarted. It was idling at abbout 300rpm! lol. Got my multimeter out and checked my plugs and eventually found out one of the cylinder coils was shagged so I had to ring Green Flag. The time is now 6:10pm and the doors open at Cov at 7:30pm. Had to wait an hour for a recovery truck and then he charged me £30 to take me home in the same county!!! Never mentioned these charges to me before. Apparently I was completely covered. The cart also passed me and laughed and also the bus driver I left in Oakham who left there 45 mins after me.
Anyway I scabbed a lift off my Mum to Coventry and cancelled my breakdown with Green Flag so all isnt bad but if I had stayed in bed yesterday instead of going to work I would be considerably richer.
The moral of the story is, its not always forcing yourself out of bed to go to work. It might not be worth it and your day isn't always as bad as it appears.
