...has just failed its MOT, so i need a few bits to put it right.....

windscreen wipers and washer pump... fine no problems, halfords and scrappy respectively.

front discs... ****!

near side rear arm... ******!

exhaust, mid and rear sections! **** **** ****!

new tyre!

Im buggered... unless i can get these parts for cheap, the cars for sale. :bang: (n)
I have just over a week to sort something out.. i learn to drive soon! (if i can sort things)

Front discs and pads aren't too bad, motor factors normally sell them quite cheap, or theres a dude on ebay that sells a kit for just over £32 or something. They're not hard to fit.

the exhaust shouldn't be too expensive, look out for someone breaking a cinq on ebay, or go to www.bodyshopwarehouse.co.uk, they normally sell them pretty reasonably

as for the rear arm i have absolutely no idea whatsoever!

its depreciating every day it sits there doing bugger-all, i need a car to learn in from next weekend and it needs a bit doing to it, so its probably going unless i can find the bits to sort it for cheap

I'm with Mase. It would cost you more to sell it and buy a new car than to stick with it and fix it

Where do you suggest i find these parts for cheap then?

ive been quoted the following....

35 for cheap tyre, fitted,
disc and pads 65
exhause centre and rear 75
wipers 12
rear arm 79
plus VAT

I can fit everythin myself, except for the rear arm and tyre.

Hmm..discs and pads are cheaper than that IIRC Id say £20 for the discs and £10-15 for the pads assuming yure staying standard!

I usually use MFA (Motor Factors Altrincham) in Alty, on Borough Road, theyre fairly cheap and can usually source things in a matter of hours if not held from stock. (I went in for a cambelt at 8am one morning- was told "Sorry, the best we can do is 10:30am". Surprised?;))

The price for the other bits sounds about right...but an idea might be to see if yu can get the bushes seperately, cos it'll be the bushes, not the arm thats dead. Prob is, Fiat only sell th arms, as its an easy way to make money!

If yu can do all that, why cant yu do the rear arm- its only a few bolts!!!

If u really wanna save money a scrappy will put a legal trye on ur rim for about a tenner (i wouldn't recomend this tho, new are always better). wipers if u want the cheapest will set u back £3 from wilko's (and there not half bad if i'm honest), and is the 65 for the pads and disks fitted? cus if its not its a lot of dosh, u should be payin £35 for it at tops (doing the fitting yourself isn't that bad)

DON'T get second hand pads and disks unless u know there history, if u stick to new, at least u know there gonna last a fair while.

As I once bubbled...

By Powerflex I meant Powerflex bushes to replace the worn bushes in the radius arm. Theyre harder rubber (nitrile I think :s), and make the car handle better:). Problem is, theyre £70 for the set

a set being all 4 rear bushes. I've got them on my car. no complaints at all
