Technical My cinq wants to take off..

Hey all
Wonder if you can help me at all..

Just recently when i first start my car, it has been juddering in reverse and 1st gears. It stops once its been moved about a bit, but its getting to the stage where you feel like its gonna lift off the ground!

Is this just because its been so cold out, or is something in need of repair? I havent been able to afford to get perspex under the bonnet vent yet, so is it the water getting into the engine bay? What sort of damage could that do?!

Sorry for the daft questions but i dont normally venture in to the technical section on here, for v good reasons!!

can you give a bit more detail?is it the engine juddering at idle or is it when you pull away and the judder is coming through the clutch pedal .bit more detail n someone will help:I

Water got in on my engine a few months back, shagged the ecu relay [:0]

Probably the clutch, mine will do it sometimes especially if it's really cold. Worth checking that the engine mounts are sound too, try to rock the engine forwards and backwards - there should be very little movement, but the rear engine / gearbox mount is a common failure on Cinqs.

Yeah, mine did that until it got replaced. was only £10 from fiat for the mount and a DIY fit

Mine does the juddering thing - especially when reversing with bad clutch control. I agree on the clutch idea.. but don't intend to fix mine...there's 1242 going in...
