Grande Punto My caribbean Orange Mjet.

i think if i get mine remaped its not going to be in the 180+ because i cant really afford a gearbox lol. 150-160 maybe. :)

its not the bhp that kills the m32 gearbox, its just a crap box, the torque on a remap will accelerate its weaknesses.

its the box thats fitted to the astra vxr, there like 230bhp ish standard, so its not the bhp that breaks it in the grande punto to be honest.

does the GP Abarth have the same box?

does the GP Abarth have the same box?

yes, apparently abarth has the m32 gearbox.

obviously the gearbox isnt identical...ie ratios..betweek vxr, abarth, grande punto mjet

also the vxr gearbox has a nylon 6th gear(pretty crap)
fiats m32 gearbox has a metal 6th gear(slightly less crap)

apparently its mainly the bearings that are crap in the m32 gearbox, leading to wear and play and eventual BANG

Ah ok, was thinking of uprgrading my box to the abarth one untill i heard this somethwere. I checked my reciept from when my box was fixed and all the parts are for 4th gear, basically the whole gear had worn down including the fork  i know i use 4th gear a lot because of the route i take to work and obviously overtaking lots of lorries used 4th aswell

Surprised you don't have any already :p I had mine before I picked the car up LOL..

glad the gear box got fixed :) did yours go bang?

Its on my to-do list lol, im more interested in tuning than asthetics anyway. I just lost 4th gear, it kept popping out under load. Not as bad as the m-jet boxes but cost just as much to repair

Will start with the bad news first!, the seal on the drivers side headlight decided to go so its full of condensation. Went back to fiat and they are going to replace it.

Right so the updates, got some new mats. These are so much better than the standard black fiat mats. they also have velcro on the back so are stuck to the carpet.

Had to get a new rear badge because that was full of water!
OLD

NEW

Also started to re-trim the inside panels, got some black faux leather and started with the B pillars (because they are the easiest). Will eventually be doing the rest.
BEFORE

AFTER

FITTED

B pillars look very smart, good job mate! Might do similar thing. How do you take them off? And I have that condensation problem slightly with one of my rear lights :( they obviously don't seal them very well.

Where did you get the vinyl from for the steering wheel and have you done any other bits yet? Wheel looks really good and I'm tempted to do mine if it's not too hard.

Thanks mate:D, quite easy really, undo the seatbelt and then pull form the top of the panel and it should just pop out. Just be carful not to break any clips.

Good job with the faux leather!
I wanna do the headlining in it! :D
Thanks mate, should of really done the headlining first and worked my way down but oh well:D
