My blue machine is on the back of a flatbed waiting for the dealer/insurance guy to look her over.

The girlfriend drove her over the edge of a parking space, down a 6' rocky 45 degree slope and into a mudbank. The car had to be recovered by a crane.

So far I can see the front end stove in, broken lights, broken bumper, rad, etc, leaking water, oil and aircon gas.

It seems my lady mixed up the brake and accelerator pedals.

Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh.

Ouch!

As long as no one was hurt is the main thing, it’s a tragic incident, but the blue machine can be replaced.

Although I suspect the spares brigade will be up next if the insurance company will not pay to fix it.

Hopefully they will pay to get you back on the road and as good as new in the b.

Ouch. Not good. I take it by the fact you haven't said anything to the contrary she's ok? Must have been a shock for her careering down a rocky slope. Something to tell the kids & laugh about in the future I'm sure!

It seems my lady mixed up the brake and accelerator pedals.

Maybe you could spend a bit of the insurance payout on a pair of custom made driving gloves for her - Ones with "LEFT" & "RIGHT" embroidered onto each glove?!?!?! :D

Oh man - bad news, sorry to hear it but hopefully your missus is OK? Not sure how she muddled the peddles up though - its only the steering wheel that's on the 'other' side!!!!!

As Flash said - 'it'll be one to tell the kids' or throw back in her face when you forget the anniversary card or birthday present ;)

Sorry to hear that, another one is down :(

Can i grab your throttle cable off you :)

Wating for the insurance guy to appear. Had a really good look at it on the flatbed and I can see: 2 broken headlamps. Broken bumper. Broken radiator. Dented bonnet and both wings. Unknown underside damage (leaking oil and aircon gas gone). Garage think the sump is cracked..Misc minor paintwork damage down both sides where it went through a hedge before landing in the stream...

Car is a '00 model with 26k on the clock.

Repairable or write off?

Got 2 repair estimates. 1 from Fiat for €3941 / £2640 and for identical work from a specialist repairer for €2800 / £1876. Mostly plastic and cosmetic damage. The front bumper is the big one at €667 / £446. Headlamps are €388 / £269 each! Engine damage underneath is minor apparently. Split aircon pipe and busted oil cooler which accounts for the fluids underneath. Rad is apparently ok but should be replaced as dented.

Fiat have quoted for a respray in their quote which the specialist doesn't think it needs.

Waiting for the ins co to spark.

Sounds to me like it will be a close call, it depends what the industry guide price for your car is at the moment. I wrote a Jeep off earlier this year, 5.5k of damage for a car valued at 3.5k - no brainer!!! Hopefully they will agree to the repairs..........keep your fingers crossed.

BTW, if they do repair it make sure you get step by step photos of the repair process, it will help if you ever come to sell it.

Somebody here was complaining about mechanics shafting you given half a chance. They aren't in the same league as insurance companies.

Had a bad tempered spat with the insurance assessor who told me my '00 B with 25k on it had a pre-accident value of €3-4k therefore it was an automatic write off. When pressed he said he'd never actually seen a B and the nearest thing he could compare it with was a Mazda MX6! When pressed he said..sorry mistake, should have been an MX5. Err, '00 MX5's in similar condition go here for about 12k..New assessor please.

Finally got a valuation of 11k, Car will be repaired, mostly plastic damage. Now we wait 4 weeks for Fiat to produce the wrong spares from Italy.

Very glad to hear it will be repaired, sounds like the assessor needed shafting:eek:

Question is, will the GF be allowed near it again??:D
