it would carry on running but it has no coolant in there, i was just messing about and thought i'd try and start it - it worked, so then i turned it off :D

how'd you fill the mounts, did you seal round them first with tape or the like and then fill them with glue?

Tiger seal is THICK stuff. I just put silicone gloves on, injected it in all the gaps on all the mounts. Made sure it was packed in tight, smoothed it off, and let it set for a few days. Worked a treat. I did this OFF the car though. Not sure it will work so well on the car.

Saved me £60 on a new driver mount, and made the other two brand new mounts I bought a hole lot stiffer.

Just be prepared for a little more noise in the cabin, and a bit of vibration.

Throttle response and off the line are better though :D

cheers, me and the car should be at some shows this year (y)

before it can be driven the cambelt needs doing, was going to do that today but spent the day re-wiring my mates rover, and due to some complications we're stripping the head from that tomorrow now. doh!

had it run up to temperature today, timing needs some attention. i wonder if the TDC marking is still in place on the flywheel. i need MS setup properly before i even start faffing about with it.

kristian, what did you use to bloke off the ICV? On the 8v i could get anway with a bit of gasket and wedge it between the two parts of the TB, on the 16v tb tho this is not possible.

kk, u dont know how degrees BTDC or ATDC the engine is when it's got all 4 pistons level for being time do you. that is the only known reference point i have atm, and need TDC to tell MS

I don't know how many degrees. I set up a TDC mark instead.....but....All pisotns in line mean half way from the bottom to the top of the stroke, so ?90? degrees?

It will be 180 degrees when piston is at bottom, then 270 on the up stroke agian, and 360/0 at the top?

That logic make sense. Been a long day and I need sleep.

Kristian

yeah, it made sense! i put a stick in the plug hole, and then got it nearly at TDC, then looked at the mark on the flywheel. made some TDC markings and got my trigger angle set properly (i was only 7 degrees out!)
