When you turn the ignition key on, and all the lights come on, does the code light stay on or go out, if it stays on, then it may be the imobiliser.

If not, does your heating coil light stay on then go out ?

Do you feel the starter motor engage to turn over the engine ?

Is your battery good ? The correct size for a JTD ? ( Cranking Amps )

Have you drained any water from the fuel filter ? / changed the fuel filter ?

Did you have any warning lights up in Amber or Red before this happened ?

My car was doing this about 2 months ago, it turned out to be the actual housing that the electricals fit into the steering column lock. In my case I was so desperate to make the car reliable again I had to get it done at the main dealer. This was to make sure it did not let me down with 3 grandchildren in the car (including newborn twins). I was told by one person in the trade that it was possible to change the part of the switch where the wires went in but in my case (2005 Mk2 JTD Multipla) this turned not not to be the case. The cost at GMD Durham was £215.00 but was worth it! Good Luck

Hi There,

I had exactly this problem and it turned out to be the crank sensor, did the job myself, well actually got my daughter to do some of it, she has the smaller hands needed to undo the electrical connectors.

The sensor plastic body had melted a bit with age and needed severe persuasion to come out of its location in the crank housing.

Apart from that straight forward enough and she now starts all the time every time.

Good Luck

OP has only posted the once (3 weeks ago) and said they have to be off a week ago. Last activity on the forum was when they made the above posting.

I think they've either lost interest or shot their Multi......

Maybe the latter. But writing in CAPITALS, always sends other messages.

I've got this problem, the coil light goes out the key Code light stays on and when i turn the key to start the engine there is a clicking noise with the engine light going on and off.
I'm at work and could do with a solution!
