Technical Mpi Sei overheating

Could be the cock has seized -- that -- and a bit of force -- could account for the wire coming off.

have you bled the heating system if the mpi is the same as spi then their is a bleed valve coming out of the heater system with a small hand and undo till water comes out

Yes bled the system, when hot and cold, with heater on.

So i think it is the cock, or wire come off.

I guess i take the bulkhead cover off to gain access to the wire/cock?

Oh dear ..

Puddle of water on the floor, expansion tank nearly empty ..

It is coming from the water pump side of the engine!

Guess that the flush has revealed a problem.

Can't see exactly where the leak is coming from, water pump gasket maybe??

There is no gasket (usually -- a few non OE ones come with gaskets, but..........) just a sort of polyurethane gasket goo.

Likely casuses are the water pump seal or the seal from the water pump to the water rail (sort of on top of the oil filter). The second one is cheap, if a bit awkward to get to.

Often, if you park the car with the engine running, offside wheel on the curb, you can get your head in position to see which it is.

I have a question .. when i replaced the thermostat, i removed the coils, there is a rubber 'o' ring that on the coil bracket, this is leaking a little, i have a trickle of oil, can i get a replacement 'o' ring?
