The rocker cover breather has a smaller diameter pipe that connects to the throttle body or inlet manifold.

Should this connect to an open pipe on the TB/IM?

I,ve just removed the K&N on my MS edition and the pipe seems to have a plastic sleeve.
Or is that a redundant pipe and blanked off to save Fiat having to make new parts.
Any pics anywhere of this area??
Just applies to MPi owners.

Thanks.
RALPH.

Nice induction kit, where did you get it? any chance of a link? looks like it fits perfectly in the engine bay of a Sei

....Incidentally, no need to extend the breather tube so much if you put the shiny polished aluminium tube on t'other way round.
Definitely put the tube the other way round otherwise any oil in the vapour will drip down & eventually clog the filter....
Been there, eat the pie, got the t-shirt etc, etc.

Look at your pic again and remove the smaller diameter pipe that comes off of the breather pipe. You can see it just to the right of the expansion tank going downwards towards the inlet manifold.

Is that supposed to be a clear run into the manifold if not why is it there, why does it have a black plastic sleeve over it??

Probably quite a few people have looked, but if YOU can't be bothered to take a picture or explain your question properly why should they bother to answer?
Are you talking about the smaller diameter pipe that comes off of the elbow of the rocker cover breather pipe?? If you are then I think this is connected into the L/H side of the inlet manifold -but as my car is non-standard somebody else will have to verify this.

if your talking big black flexi pipe its to direct cold air to your filter as for k&n get rid of it, it will cause your engine to over heat and lead to headgasket failure

a man after my own heart,Smokey.

I,ve binned the K&N on my MS edition.

And to clarify for those who have issues with my expanation,I,m interested in knowing what the smaller diameter pipe off of the rocker breather pipe(yes, the one that connects to the manifold) actually has under it.

1-Is it a clear pipe into the manifold, that then "sucks" when the engine runs.

2-On MPi engines it connects to a blank that is no longer required on MPi engines.

I,ve got the standard air filter back on the car and it has helped my little problem a little but still a nasty flat spot around 2k.

I was ruminating that "maybe" the black "blank" that the pipe connects to on my MPi "might" be part of the K&N kit.

Is that clear enough??

The little pipe goes to a nipple on the plastic manifold between the fuel rail test valve cap and the threaded air filter mounting point to the left of the throttle body and cam belt end of engine...............and the big pipe goes to the under side of the air filter box......from the sound of it, you need a new pipe due to some mods.

Cheers CC

I,ve got a new pipe that came with the S/H filter box.

When I took the old pipe off,I noticed that this smaller diameter pipe seems to connect to nothing but a bit of black plastic.

I was wondering if it was part of the K&N kit that had been on the car or standard from Fiat.

So,you,ve confirmed its from Fiat.
So,when I re-tax the car on Monday,I think I,ll have to put it on diagnostics to try and establish why this car "seems" to have a misfire around 2.5k

Thanks again.
