Some of you may know that I'm on my way up to Stockport next Monday/Tuesday and the Hotel is sorted (TY Sammi). However, I'm now going up to Cumbernauld (Good job the company pay me travel expenses eh? ;)) on the Tuesday afternoon and was wondering which of these service stations on the M6 I should use or avoid: -

Burton-In-Kendal Services;
Tebay Services;
Southwaite Services.

Any recommendations people?

Depends how you want paying lady.... ;)

LOL! I'll stand you a Subway at a meet in the future Hon. Thanks again. :)

But if the hotel is rubbish or I get mugged at the Services you stand me a Subway yeah? :)

On the A74 part in between the M6 and M74 (the dual carrageway section just before the scottish border) there is a littlechef and a cheaper petrol station. If im stopping to have something to eat I usualy go there

My Aunt lives in Cumbernauld. Pop in for your tea hehe

Never mind that - I'm less than a mile from the M6/A74 drop in here for your tea. Further down south you will find Charnock Richard services which is good. Tebay is pretty good I agree. On the A74 don't even try going to little chef if it's busy you will never get back out onto the road. AND watch it - that stretch of road is a killer generally - there is a very narrow bridge and it's not nice. There are services on the M74 just north of Gretna and also just off the M74 at Abingdon junction.

Yeah I have been up and down certain stretches far too many times for my liking :(. Did I forget to mention the road is so quiet and sraight in places it makes a great racetrack? Last time I was there a silver astra and myself had a great time :D

WOW!

Thanks for all the advice guys (and the offers of tea - if only I'd checked my mail a few days ago.... :()

Anyway, looks like I owe you a Subway Sammi as the Hotel was fine (not great but certainly fine and better than that Carvery place) but Tebay services was just about the nicest one I've ever been too. Had a great time watching the Ducks as I sipped my coffee and threw down another couple of coffin-nails. Very pleasant.

I know it's too late, but for future trips to service stations up north, a tip.

Don't buy the Dr.Pepper.

Is it like that everywhere up north. Down south it tastes like fizzy prune juice, really thick, sugary flavour. The stuff I bought on my way back from Scotland, was in a different shaped bottle to what we have down south and tasted all fruity, in fact, almost healthy tasting, uuuurgh.
