Hi sorry to distract you all from the TC and Cinqmeister show thread! I need any recommendations for a new phone as my ancient 3210 has finally died. My specification so far:

-On vodafone pay as you go.
-Preferably Nokia
-No crappy little buttons!
-Cheap as possible definately less than £100.

I have seen some cheap ones about but I was thinking it would be great to have a camera one, and I have seen one (a Sagem something) for £70 so does anyone know any others cheaper, must be on pay as you go vodafone though because all my mates are also on vodafone, makes it a lot cheaper!

Cheers for any help.

Errrrmmmm was that Orange or Vodafone? I am confuzzled [?]. Are you sure you don't want a contract - you can get some really decent phones very cheaply even with a £10 contract :). I can do no better than recommend my 6600 and I'm sure Sammi and Stu would agree.

Sorry I've got orange on the brain right now having been looking at their website. It's voadfone 'smartplus' that I need, I'm definately not a contract person I have worked it out endless times I don't spend £10 a month.

I've edited the post+ I'll check out the 6600 now - thanks.

The 6600 will cost more than £100 on PAYG I think, sorry :(. That was why I mentioned a contract as what you pay extra for with monthly charges you make back by getting a better phone. Plus once you have a phone with a camera you will be sending and receiving MMS left, right and centre :)

Yeah too expensive I'm afraid - as a poor student I'm definately going to stick to pay as you go. This is the one I've found so far:

T300 is a nice little colour phone with a cam attachment, sometimes go for about £30 on ebay (without cam) - bargain for what it is! Like the T610 but the cam attachment makes it a lower model. I like it a lot and would replace my ageing phone with it. NB: the t300 isn't a current phone/probably 18 months or more old, just IMO good value for money second hand.

I bought a Nokia 6510 off ebay just before christmas, cost me £65. They're only about £45 now; nice small phone and well-built, some useful extras like loads of memory for texts/numbers etc. I much prefer it to all these big heavy new phones with colour screens and cameras! :p

Thanks everyone will get looking into them. Custard were you talking about the T300 when you said the camera is rubbish?

I'm thinking I'm definately going for one with a camera now...

you dont spend £10 a month but your paying for the handset and higher call costs on PAYG.cheaper calls/texts on contract and a free phone

DP, carefully consider camera phones, don't expect to use it for anything but silly shots. They are usually about 0.3MP (i believe?) which is pretty awful!

Custard; I didn't know the cam was bad, if i bought one I wouldn't buy the cam though, have a nice digi cam and don't see the point (personally) in having a poor quality cam on a phone...

even by phone standards its poor,in anything but super bright light it shows nothing.sonyerricson are bringing out a 1.3 Mp phone soon and nokia have a 1Mp cameraphone but if you want real quality buy a sperate camera.P800 takes respectable enough pics

Ah, cams that need bright sunshine! Been there, done that! I guess a lot of mob cams are like that though and considering no flash could also be a problem?

I don't have (or want really) a digital camera so that's why it would be nice to have a phone that did it, I don't really care about the quality it would only be for novelty value probably plus it would just be handy even without good quality.

As for contract, no I have decided that vodafone payg is what I need, When I say I don't spend £10/month I mean nowhere near, while I'm at Uni I don't talk to mates at home as much and use email a lot more. I paid £80 for my 3210 probably 5/6 years ago and I want to do that again really - I definately don't want a contract! Thanks for the heads up anyway but I have worked it out.

The Sagem MYV65 is looking good at the moment, £80 at the link there are some reviews saying the camera is excellent.
