My moms car above exhaust has snapped right by the mesh barrel coming out of the cat just before the centre section.

the garage she took it to this morning wanted 270 +vat for a new centre to exit exhaust.

i think that that is ott and is trying to rob her cause she lost her husband(my dad) a year ago and lately everyone sees a woman and tries to rob her so i try to help her out as much as i can.

any ideas how much it should cost and where to go about getting one.

i have a m8 who can fit it on cheap but cant get parts...only fit em.

have a check in the yellow pages you should find exhaust sellers in there both for fitting as in garages and also ones that just supply. i did when i was looking for mine i just had back sectoin repalced that cost me £70 but i could of got one to fit myself for £50.

there is one thing i should mention though on my car mk2 sporting the rear section of exhaust passes over the rear axles so to get it in you have to jack car up and let the wheels hang so as to bring the axel down. just thought i would say so you can check you mate can do this

Hi
I Have a w reg Hgt and a very similar thing happened to me the exhaust corroded and snapping just after the flexible braided joint in front of the cat.

According to a local garage the piece of pipe is only available as a Fiat part, the reason being that no patent has yet been granted for after-market companies to copy the part , hence you pay full whack for a replacement. I was told that it can take four to five years for this patent to be granted. I was quoted £250 from a local supplier and £229 from the fiat parts desk.

My advice is to do what i did i took the car to a custom exhaust shop and they welded a new flexible joint onto the pipe for me £60 done and dusted.

Hope this is of help

well we took it t my m8 instead of ats or the other dodgers around here and he charges 72 squid to fix so not bad.

steve tell me about it i shoulda got a saxo!

You should consider getting the lot done in stainless steel, as if the back has rusted/snapped then the front will go at some stage soon as well.
