Technical Mk2 punto WONT START HELP )

ive just recently changed my cam belt and timed it wrong so today i timed it correctly (well i think i did top pulley mark pointing at 9 o'clock and bottom pully mark pointing at 10 o'clock) but the engine wont start.. anyone any ideas what could be up

ive checked all connections and they seem fine and checked HT leads etc..

when i turn the key all you can hear is the pullys spinning round...

Is the ignition timing pulley on properly? There's a wee pip on the crank pulley that engages with the hole in the ignition/aux belt pulley.

Is there a spark and fuel past the injector? Check! If not, replace TDC sensor.

i got a smell of fuel when trying to start it.. it was quite dark and wet whilst doing it so i may have missed that ignition timing pully.. to me it doesnt sound like theres a spark..

which pully is for the ignition? from what i can see is the top pully, the water pump, tenstioner, bottom pully, then the alternator belt

The bottom outer pulley, the one that the TDC sensor points at, has a wee hole that matches a nipple on the lower cambelt pulley.

Yup, and make sure the TDC sensor is in the right place and connected.

Cam sensor is the top one, crank/TDC sensor is on the oil pump.

problem sorted.. apprently it was badly timed lol oops.. all sorted now.. apart from a little whistling/whining noise when moving off..

Did you change the tensioner too?

yer new belt, tensioner, and water pump

im thinking that the noise could be the water pump spinning around and when it hits an air lock its making the noise.. not too sure tho.. will look at that later haha
