If the job is done with the wipers on the car you cant clean the ball pegs properly so they will grind away at the plastic. Take off the linkage (its only a 15mins job) and do it right with fine wet/dry paper and vaseline to grease the joints.

so i'm mid way through fitting the new sockets they sent me onto the metal arms.

i got the old worn sockets off no problem, but now i cant get the metal clips that hold the new sockets in place on.

i've been at it for about 30 mins with every tool in the house & i'm now starting to think i need some kind of special tool to spring them open just enough to get them over the socket.

can anyone tell me what the tool i need is called or if they are easy enough to find? or even better, how to get the clips on without it?

i've now got a car i can't drive because it's pissing down outside & i've got no wipers at all now!

had to buy a pair of circlip pliers from amazon as none of the hardware stores near me had them. they just arrived yesterday so the cars been off the road all that time. :(

i fixed a set for a lad........welded a washed on the bottom, welded a washer on the top......job done....cheaply (y)

Hi all.

So are the Wipex links still worth buying or do they still break after a few months?

I saw someone's post that they were modified a few years ago to fix the issue. Is this the case?

Thanks.

Mine have been in place since last autumn doing a Cardiff to Stafford commute every week. Take the motor assembly off the car and clean the ball pins with wet&dry. Also use vaseline or white grease. DO NOT USE LM or moly grease. They damage nylon.

Wicked!

Is this doable by a novice i.e. me? Or would it be best to get my mechanic to do this?

I'd love to give this a go but don't want to balls anything up.

This is the undead thread.

The replacement ball joint parts are good, better than the original.

But

1. Most punto wiper judder as far as I know is due to non conducting grease being used in the mechanism.
2. The whole wiper pivot point moving (the bit the nut goes onto holding each arm in place)

New rods won't fix those problems. Mine are better, but still judder for 2, and probably 1 above.

Hi, please bear with me, I'm a mum who's only just found out you have to do a bit more with cars than put petrol in. :)
My daughter's Punto wiper stopped working, the AA man fixed it for 5 mins only with a bit of wire, you can see this on the photo, and now I'm wondering if the Wipex kit you buy on ebay is made to solve this problem? Daughter's car is miles away so I haven't seen it but she describes it as the short arm has a bobble on it, and the long arm has a hole in it but they don't join. Yes, i can hear you all laughing but I'm trying!
If this is the right kit we can get somebody to fix it for us but I don't want to waste the money if it's not the right thing..................needs doing urgently as MOT due in 14 days, and every time it rains she has to pull over till it stops!
Help...............please!!!!

ps can't get photo on so far but its just a short arm and a long arm that don't connect any more.

here is the photo for my post
