HI

Not sure if if is exactly a misfire, but this is what happens...

Driving the car a week ago, car running well suddenly refuses to give any power when anything more than moderate accelerating.
Fault quickly gets worse to the point that it just doesnt want to put out any power under any load or revs.

I noticed the exhaust had blown a big hole around the back box so had it replaced, but fault still exists. car now virtually undrivable.
Car seems to start and idle normally.

Any ideas greatly appreciated...
Cheers

Maybe the coil pack mate. Common problem on the mk1. I had it replaced on my 55SX and that had the same symptoms. Get it to a garage and let them inspect it.

Good Luck

Noticed over the weekend that their is also a feint burning smell.
Can anyone confirm if this ties in with the fault being at the coil pack?

Ok, more onfo on this (i'm getting deperate)

I tried the coil pack, and that made no difference.

However the fault seems to have settled down a bit.
Car starts fine from cold and seems to drive ok until comfortably up to temperature. Then the 'misfire' starts. Most noticable accelerating with revs low. If i keep the revs high, it is almost unnoticeable.

Havn't driven a car in this style for about 10 years

Just tieing up loose ends... and letting you know that the fault was down to a faulty plug lead.... No1 i think, although i replaced the whole set.

Thanks

hi what oil are you using it must be 5/30 as any thing higher will block the hydrolic tappets and cause a miss fire as most elect.fault would put the dash light on
