mk 2.5 punto radion removal

Hi

Ive been asked to fit a JVC CD headunit into a friends sisters mk2.5 punto. I don't want to go pulling at bits that i don't need to. How does the std (tape) headunit come out and will i need an ISO convertor to use the JVC unit in there?

If its the same as mk2 (quite sure it is) get 4 long cocktail sticks in the holes at each corner and pull.

Dont know about the JVC's, just try it when the radios out.

sounds easy enough, didnt want to jab things in them holes until i knew a proper tool wasnt needed. if it were my car on the other hand..

probably will need a ISO adaptor not sure though as i havnt personally seen behind the fascia of a std radio on mk2/2.5 punt

i think i have a mk2.5 punto cd player somwhere from my brothers car.. i should check that really!

cocktail sticks did the job - stupid wires werent long enough tho, kept wedging the connector between the back of the stero and the silly bit in the dashboard

i'm pretty sure the ISO plug in the back has some wires backwards in puntos. permanent live is in wrong pin

Hi, want to replace my head unit on the new punto, took it out and wired it up, but no power.
Which wires need swapping round, just the permenant wire (red?)

Got round to wire up my sony head unit on the new mk2.5 punto, all seemed to work but encountered a problem.

It is always on, when you take the key from the ignition its on, when you shut the door it goes off, then it will come back on.

Anyone had this problem?

On the mk2.5 doesnt the standard radio stay on anyway?

Do you completely turn the headunit off before you get out of the car?

On the standard it can be turned on without ignition, but it will come on with the ignition.

My sony cd player has a digital display, so if u turn it off on the head unit, it will still display stuff on the head unit.

as i just mentioned in the PM, if you hold the off button for a few seconds it turns off the unit completely... If you just press it once, in effect it only goes on standby

I wired the sony head unit up, the only way i got it power was when the car was not on the ignition. but when it was put on the ignition it would turn off thus doing the opposite ive tried to do. I tried many combinitions of wiring it up and the only way i got it powered was this way.
