The little buzz box I have had the joy of playing with over the last week seems to be missing something.

The gearknob is plastic and uncomfortable.. should it be leather? R-reg sporting.

For the well worn racer look, fill the grooves with plop and wrap it up in duct tape. (The gear knob, I mean, not the other......... :D )

original unit is a bolt in place job.very simple.
IIRC its a 10mm nut/bolt to unhook the reverse cable.then the entire shaft assembly comes off.
if oyu want to go aftermarket then cut of the gearknob section to reveal the metal inner shaft inside.obviously above the reverse cable assembly.
you will either need an omp adapter or bodge.
or as i did just push down on the shaft to engage reverse

What about if I want to replace with original?

dunno, I dont think anyones ever done it

but im guessing you break the old one off, fill the new one with glue and stick it on the end of the shaft

mines staying like it is, so i dunno

Something I do know -

My old Cinq' Sporting had leather that was "shedding" little bits of the leather, if you buy a 2nd hand replacement make sure it is in mint condition.

Go to a breaker and pinch the whole lever, complete with knob. The plastic bit of the knob is actually molded onto the stick, there's no efficient way of removing it or replacing just the knob with the original.
