Milwaukee power tools

I wonder if somebody has a recent hands-on experience with these tools. They´ve been viciously marketed here for some 2 years (together with AEG tools), but do not appear in any major retail chains. I only held it once (angle grinder, in a village hardware store) and was not impressed at all - it was showing all marks of a cheap scrap. The tools are manufactured in China and the brand is owned by a Chinese company (TTI).
It seems the brand was "nothing but heavy duty" during 80s and 90s when the tools were, indeed, designed and made in the USA, but the times changed for worse...

know a few brickies who use em. brickies do loose tools fast tho

They are good quality we use the drills at work. The 18v ones are brilliant batteries last a long time and we use them for pretty much everything and anything

Usually when brands make it to shops they lose quality as they don't need to try so hard. Take Stanley's battery drill for example

My BiL has a few of the heavy stuff, he loves a bargain but never buys crap - and he always abuses his stuff - never cleans it, generally chucks things around etc & I know he's had his breaker for many, many years.
That said, maybe the stuff is being made on the cheap these days?

Stanleys battery drills are really a domestic standard product. I mean why would they try and compete with there own Dewalt brand??

Stanley, Black and Decker, Dewalt and Facom are all under the same ownership. Stanley also has different divisions of quality, Fatmax being their flagship I believe and their hand tools are really excellent for the money.

The whole tool business is very incestual with companys such as Sealey and Draper importing most of their products, although don't forget Draper owns Knipex... right.

Anyway back to Milwaukee/AEG... good stuff but overpriced IMO. It's one of those fashionable brands in the trade.

If you can get a good deal it will probably be a good buy.

I quite like their multimeter I wonder who it's made by...
