Technical Mileage counter counting up when stationary

A bit of a strange one which I'm hoping you can help me with.

Our Seicento has sat unused for about 8 weeks and the battery went flat.

We started her with jump leads and thought all was well. But we have noticed:-

1. The Mileage counter seems to have reverted to Kilometers.
2. It keeps counting up even when stationary.
3. The fuel gauge stays at empty and the fuel light comes on and off at will.

Any ideas what is causing this?
Can we reset soemthing?
Have we fried a chip? if so which one and where can we get one cheaply?

There was a big blue flash in the sky the other day and the power went down, so maybe?

the flashing of the fuel light sounds like it might have something to do with a ground connection somewhere... i'd check them. also, is the battery now working fine? it doesn't go flat overnight or anything like that? maybe try with a different one if you have access to it?

this is a grounding and /or battery voltage problem

very strange things happen on low voltage and when you lose earth reference under the bonnet
