What turbo engine are you running?

To beat a car with sub 10 second 0-60 and a top speed of between 100-160 (depending on spec) either he was alseep or you have a nice non-standard engine!

1.1i spi turbo produces over 90 bhp now de cat has been fitted does 0 2 60 in around 8 2 9 seconds turbo cobversion includes having remapped engine ie chipped etc so yer not standered at all

hi rapley
have you got the van arken kit that produces bout 85bhp?
thats a pretty impressive win, probably would have been the 1.4 105bhp version, but they are still very quick.

nice one

it was probably a ZR105, 1.4 or a diesel! the 1.4 does 0-60 in about 10.9

90BHp? I thought the Sporting SPi turbo did 105BHp? Im wrong I guess...

90?! 105?! Either are both massive figures from a 1.1 engine. Does it lack torque and require high revs? Surely that is the only way to get such a massive amount of power form such a small engine?

Well I know the 1242 8v can give off 80-90BHp normally aspirated, just be freeing up engine breathing (doing exhaust and Air filter) and remapping the ECU...It may be 134cc bigger, but its only 5-10BHp off,so I'm really waiting with baited breath for the results of Pete's 1242 Turbo if its going ahead!

turbo cuts in at 1700 rpms yup puts alot of stress on the engine but it does coup well wiv the extra power van aaken used 2 do a high pressure turbo that kicked out 105 bhp but it woz 2 unrailble and expensive so now they use a low pressure turbo at a cheaper price wiv much the same results and being reailble, and alot of fun puka

The 85bhp turbo one goes like stink really, has probably less torque than my 1242 under about 2750 revs, but from there till it starts to die off at around 5250 it pulls like a bugger.
This doesn't mean it'll only pull between those revs though, that's just a comparison to the 1242 n/asp.

In the turbo at around 75mph in 5th, the acceleration is quite surprising right through past 100.

Just fort I'd let you guys (and Girls) know that my dad has a 1242 Turbo, and it REALLY is a pocket rocket.

If I remember correctly the turbo kicks in at around 2,000rpm or was it 3,000rpm (I'm not quite sure) and you can really feel it full.

It running at about 118bhp at the moment, but I think my dad has a few little tweeks planned, nothing major just making sure its running at its very best, etc.

I'll find out more details and let you lot know.

Yeah I've got pics I can put them up first thing tomorrow morning as I've gotta put them on my Uni website, (Of the joys of being a student).

Yeah you can come and see him (My dad's named him Júlió) only one slight problem, my dad works in London and thats where the car is at the moment. HOWEVER he is planning on bringing him home for the Easter holidays, I know its a little while off yet, but I'm sure you could come round and see him then.

Anyways I wanta meet up at some point so I can buy your first single wiper, hint hint :)

I'll post the pics on here tomorrow morning at about 9:00am hope thats ok.

Ok I all this talk of the 1242 Turbo has made me post the pictures of my dad's 1242 Turbo (called Júlió).

Ok Now because it is a turbo after all, no True turbo would be complete without a boost gauge so my dad is in the process of creating a Boost gauge pod that mounts on the dash. Here are the pictures of the work in progress
