MG ZR - Punto's replacement

Introduction

Hey guys,

Check this thread for my old punto. https://www.fiatforum.com/members-motors/213692-my-new-mk2-elx.html

Basically what happened was the gearbox went, then leaked all over the clutch, making itself a large job to afford.

So I didn't see the cost to repair it justifiable to keeping the car, so I bought a new one, this:

looks good...

BUT if you found the cost of a new gearbox too high to justify, then why have you decided to buy the most unreliable/headgasket prone car in the world?:p

The cheek of it!

I baught it with the standard headgasket already replaced with an uprated one, I didn't want to fall into that hole :)

Payed 2.3k for it, 40,000 miles with FSH and a major service done by the dealers I baught it from :)

I've already fitted the audio into it, lemme find pics and I'll upload them, but basically it consists of:

Twin 10" subs
900 FLi AMP
6x9s in the parcel shelf
then you have the standard 5" and tweeter in each door.

Only problem I've found is the battery can't cope, lights dim everytime the bass kicks in, so I'll be buying a bigger battery at the weekend.

you'll tire you're alternator much quicker with a bigger battery, if it's really that bad i'd look into uprating the alternator if it can even be done

Im pretty sure it was dave, I'll have to have a ponder at the service history, it's pretty detailed and I saw most of the things that needed doing were done a few thousand miles before I bought it.

Its not that the alternator isn't coping, I did a check with the power meter on the battery, with the bass cranked up aswell as de-mister, hazards, full beams and fog, and the alternator was putting more on than what was being taken off, it just takes so much power to push the bass out so the lights dim and then come back up lol

yeh the alternator will put more charge in when stuff is turned on, soon as you turn something on the voltage will drop and quickly rise as the alternator compensates, what im trying to say is if the lights are going dim when the bass kicks in the alternators probably working its ar*se off and might not last long, with a bigger battery it's still going to be the same load on the alternator, perhaps more.

nice car though, made a thread a couple a weeks ago about buying one, they're stunning cars for the money
