Hey all, seen a car for sale locally me and the Gf really like, mainly because it's an auto lol :p

57k miles with all the toys, just had head gasket and all belts done

what dyas think? i'm really quite tempted, going for £1400 but i rekon i'd get it down a bit

13 month mot and plenty tax too

I'd advise you to investigate this a bit further (perhaps on one of the Rover forums), the Rover K series engines were known for blowing head gaskets, even after it was replaced it would often blow again soon after.

Being an 02 it will have the upgraded gasket and dowels etc I would have thought. The later gasket has metal dowels and is a composite gasket with a shim to restore compression after head skim. The other problem with the K series is the thermostat. But is much less of a problem in a ZR with it being front engined theres less cold water in the pipes. In the rear engined MGFs the engine suffers from thermal shock as it gets warm the thermostat opens and dumps cold water through, so it goes through a cycle of erratic warming and cooling before finally getting to a decent temp.
