Littlewoods currently has these coats (RRP 220 or so I think) at £102, however, if you use code: ZG033 they come to £72! An absolute bargain.

www.littlewoods.co.uk click menswear and then clearance.

I haven't worked out if it is possible to pay any way other than interest free over x weeks so ended up doing that :( But well worth it, cheapest online is apparently £160, it's a top of the range coat.

It's been replaced by the Mera Peak XCR, which will be lighter. However, the Mera Peak is an excellent jacket, and will certainly keep the elements out. I've had my Berghaus Gore-Tex jacket for 12 years now, and it's still very effective.
It depends what you want it for. If it's for walking up hills, then it's good, though you can get lighter jackets for the £250 SRP, but maybe not for that price. If it's for fashion, then whatever, I don't know about that! :D

And for £72, worth it right?

I just got an email from littlewoods asking me to call in to confirm some bits, grrr, why can't I just pay on my debit card!

£72 is a very good price for a jacket of that quality, yes.
They make you have credit with them so they keep you spending... Make sure you keep making the payment when they're needed. If they're anything like Grattan, then statements aren't very clear

I am guessing the email is either to set up a payment plan or to question where I got the discount code from if they want to question its validity.

Payments are £x over 20 weeks, I wonder if I can just pay it off in one after I get "my account" set up, will see. It's my mum that will have to put up with their catalogue, not me ;) I have no intentions of buying anything from them again. You still would have thought that they would allow "buying outright".

Thanks for that Paul (y). Me and my dad will be hill walking this year, so these will come in handy. You can reduce the price even more if your a new customer, as every order over £25 gets £15 off :)

I own a berghaus mera peak it is a couple of years old and it still looks as good as ever, no rips and stains, it has had an easy life however compared to some owners of this coat

As H said it is being replaced by XCR which is a lighter weight version of GTX (gore-tex) it is still gore-tex but it makes the coat lighter in weight and smaller to pack (although joe public wouldnt be able to tell, unless you were a serious mountaineer)

I would snap their hands off at 72 quid, mine was for sale at 225 in the shop i worked at but i got it for nothing as it was a leaving present :)

However if you are unaware please DO NOT wash these coats in all the mainstream products i.e. aerial, persil etc as the detergents have different additives which reduce the breathability of this coat and so damages it.

I recommend you wash by hand or visit your local outdoor specialist for a product by a company called nikwax which design detergents for this types of coats. They are not expensive and a worthwhile investment (y)

If anyone does buy the coats and is interested in the detergents but are unsure what to buy then for a price obviously, i am willing to go purchase the products for you, as i get the discount from my old shop. I will also include instructions as it is not a case of bunging it in the washer as you have to wash it then re-proof it.

Would anyone be interested??

No point putting a £5 phone bill onto a bargain if you can avoid it ;)

Although I took your advice custard and called, apparently they utter incompetence means that on one system they have my correct DOB but another they had 1982, I told them that they can keep their coat and I will be contacting my lawyer and hitman (i.e. I said thanks for sorting it out nice speaking bye)

So hopefully should be fixed now and I will get my coat.

BTW: For anybody in SMALL size, you can get the XCR for £110 from LX direct (part of littlewoods) not sure if it is a pricing error or not.
