Re: which branch

The problem here, Sweenpole, is that most people expect a certain level of service from a company. Halfords have consistently failed to meet this, so I won't ever go there again, and I will tell anyone that listens how bad the service has been.

What I won't be doing, however, is spending my spare time banging my head against the wall trying to help Halfords get their act together. They can rot in hell as far as I'm concerned.

Re: Re: which branch

Remember: if I don't go in there again, they can't annoy me...

Halfords are great!

I love Halfords! I have posted this before and I will post it again!

I love them to bits. Halfords are a great reprieve from those bored worktime lunches. A couple of us usually go in to have a laugh at the TYS monkeys. Tartan paint, fallopian tube etc etc. The fallopian tube was a classic. When I asked the spotty young assistant, he advised me to go and ask at the parts desk!!!!! Heee heeeee!

Opinions

I just feel that if you dont like halfords, dont go there, you are in the minority, it is easy to concentrate on the bad things that happen and not the good things.

It is true, there are a load of employees that are complete fcukwits but, a bit of patience will go a long way.

We have millions of customers a year, most go away satisfied.

Anyway, if you take a trip to the hertford store, you will not be dissapointed. As we have ex mechanics, bike nuts and people that are well keen about cars. This however is not the case throughout the whole company.

You can generalise like that without causing a load of offence.

I have just checked, you can get any parts on special order (brakes, bulbs and filters) on the same day, and i will be talking to my area manager( the bloke responsible for the whole SE england)on sunday about the books and any other problems you lot want me to mention.

So nah nah nah-nah-nah

You have the market pretty much sewn up. I'm sure that if people did have an option, and the service was better than yours then you'd be doomed. You're right, the majority of your customers are probably satisfied, although I'd love to see proof of that. It could be that they come to you because they have little choice. The fact of the matter is that most people on here (and we represent a large coross section of the population) don't rate Halfords too highly. Now, that either means that we're a bunch of whinging bastards, or, it may mean that we expect certain standards and feel we have no choice but to line Mr Halfords pockets are the alternatives are somewhat limited.

If you put this into context, and sorted out your staff, your product range and product knowledge then you'd be in a much better position if you suddenly see an increase in competition.

As for me, well I ****ing hate you after one of your staff lied to me and told me I hadn't left my wallet at the checkout.

Re: Opinions

The halfords in park gate, hampshire used to have a Bravo nut running the ripspeed counter.

The one in Winchester is run by morons.

Me: Do you have any universal 2 wire lambda sensors?
Them: What car is it for
Me: its not for any particular car, I just want a 2 wire one
Them: Sorry sir, need to know a make of car
Me: Have you got any in stock?
Them: Yes but we need to know the make of car
Me: Can you show me where they are?
Them: Sure but we need to know the make of car

They showed me the shelf and I promptly grabbed the one marked 'universal 2 wire lambda sensor' and went to pay.

Ah..

You must have one of those Universal cars then!

Re: Ah..

Yeah, '72 MGB. A car not known for having lambda sensors fitted as standard.

!

I think Sweenpole that the first line of your first post on this summed the whole McHalfords issue up.

The "secret" is to find a good one.

What utter ********. There should be no "secret", there should be TRAINED people serving, customer satisfaction and value for money EVERY time, not "if your lucky and found the secret"

I appreciate your comments further down about complaining and I will admit that there are (must?) be a number of people in Halfords who are good, but unfortunately they are let down very very badly by the majority.

I run a business whos main focus is on suppling services to customers. If I had 1 single employee who was not up to scratch he would let the whole operation down and therefore there isn't one because we have 1) employed correctly and 2) if there has been a weakness, then we have rectified it immediately.

You cannot run a spare parts desk for motor vehicles using someone who the nearest they have got to a car is when their Mum dropped them off to work. No excuse, no argument and THAT is what Halfords are perceived by. Therefore if the business model is to utilise this level of staff then you will always recevie the humiliation of haveing the kind of comments you get here...from people that have experienced your customer service.

Harsh, yet fair I think.

Re: !

halfords bikehuts are even worse (possibly, its a close call)- theyre all retards!

I can see clearly now

Went to Halfords for a rear wiper blade but couldnt find the correct one in the catalouge, in fact according to the catalouge, they dont have a rear wiper!
So I trotted off to FIAT ( remembering to write "mug me" on my forehead) and asked them for a rear wiper blade. They informed me that you cant just buy a wiper blade, you have to buy the whole lot!

Finally I called in a the corner shop type motoring place and this old guy came out, took of the old blade, replaced it with a universal one, trimmed the edges to fit and charged me....£1.99pence

To you all, whatever your opinions

I really apreciate all of your feedback and will be passing it on to my area manager as soon as possible, and as soon as i get an answer, i shall put it up.

I myself have just bought a bravo 1.2 sx80. I love it to bits and was really pissed when i could not get the bits i really wanted from my loval superstore, i was given a complete run around and i myself was not happy. Back at my store i rang Head Office Supply Desk and the bits i wanted were ordered for me.

IT SHOULD NOT HAVE TO BE THAT DIFFICULT!!

I agree that a lot of the staff dont know what they are talking about because they are young, dont drive or are complete muppets. But they are muppets that earn a fraction of of the amount that other suppliers earn. You cant get ex mechanics and 'brilliant' people for under £5 per hour.

There are lots issues that need to be sorted.

As i said pervoiusly Halfords cater for the majority,....Vauxhalls, fords, rovers etc. etc. And i agree that halfords are pretty poor when i comes to fiats. But that is the way it is.

Thanks for you comments
Andrew

Re: To you all, whatever your opinions

The bulb book has the wrong listing for a '94 Ford Fiesta!!! If that isn't a common car then I don't know what is.

Re: Re: To you all, whatever your opinions

Try and buy rear brake shoes for a post May 2000 Ford Ka: they list them as having never changed.

And they tried to sell me solid front discs for the same Ka, which has vented discs. When I pointed this out, they told me that the solid ones would fit, "it says so in this book"...
