Technical MCD36 CD Changer Problem In 1996 Brava

Just bought Grundig MCD36 for my Fiat Brava 1996 and I have positioned it in the boot where the pre-wired cable is.

Have put in a couple of CDs [genuine not CDr] and the changer starts cataloging them. It goes through the lot and then I get a message on the radio saying 'SURFACE'

What does this mean?

Does anyone have a PDF of the manual for this changer please??

There might be a problem with the cd's in the changer. try cleaning them off. in the hand book it state. "If CD is damaged or has been badly inserted "SURFACE" will appear on the display. ".
