Bravo Matthewr1990's T-Jet Bravo Dynamic

Introduction

So after months of looking around, researching, test driving and even a little fight (don't ask). I have finally got myself a Bravo. And what a beauty she is. It's a (57 plate), Dynamic, T-jet 120.

Goodbye Megane. You horrible excuse of a car!

Now can someone point me in the direction of a new brain. Even the climate control confuses the hell out of me LMAO. Gonna need a really good read of the manual.

Anyway. The car has a full service history and only has 57,000 miles, it had got a broken glove box but the garage is sorting this for me. It's coming with 9 months mot, 6 months tax and warranty, it's just had new belt's, water pump, brakes and two front tyres. It's in beautiful shape with no dents although there is paint work damage on the rear bumper. It's not deep, they're just surface scratches and no dent so god knows what they hit or did lmao. But it's not severe and barely visible from a distance, so it will be sorted when and if I'm ready.

QUESTION: being as this is a 57 plate car. Will it be able to connect to my iPhone 5 with a software update and the right connector?

So anyway without further ado here she is. She will have a name in due time

Good looking interior

Considering it's 6 years old, the upholstery is immaculate

Beautiful colour

So what do you think?
Re: My new Bravo :D

More than likely will cost a fortune.

See my project thread for my exhaust, I went to longlife and got a cat back exhaust for £329. I went for twin exit on the left hand side only, even though I wanted twin exit both sides.

The problem is the fuel lines and fuel fill up pipe run down the right hand side of the car, so obviously to avoid the risk of your car exploding you would have to;

*Move the pipes to one side as best as they could
*Install some further heat shield to the area
*Then of course run the actual exhaust pipework

Everything is possible - but I think all the additional work would cost a bomb in both materials and time. And even then, with the heat shield there, would you feel safe in the knowledge only a small amount of metal is between the exhaust and the fuel lines for the car?

Also, I don't want to sound like a forum Nazi... because that's genuinely not my intention, hence me answering your question. But this thread is for Matt's car, and as such should only really contain discussion about Matt's car. It's only fair if we keep it on topic (y)

Plus, if you were to create your own thread "Opinions on this exhaust?" for example, you would gain far more attention than an individual post in someone else's car/ project thread :)

Like I said, I don't want to be a forum nerd, but if you want to discuss your car, discuss it in your own thread, not Matt's :)

thanks for the advice :) and aye a realised a had posted it in mattews thread after i did it lol

Re: My new Bravo :D

Right I'm an impatient git. So I sprayed my grills just after letting them dry thoroughly in my boiler cupboard. Waiting for them to be touch dry then they're coming inside to cure over night in the same cupboard. Looking good I think?

Won't be put on the car until tomorrow night. My plan of action tomorrow is wash and degrease the bumper. Waiting to dry. Then I'll mask everything up. Spray it and wait for it to dry for a few hours. Then I Can refit all the grills and badges and show everyone the results :)

It is complete but I'm not happy with the result. The grills look great but when trying to make the clean lines on the side of the license plate it failed miserably. I'm going to leave it like this for the time being and order some matte vinyl wrap instead. Replace the plastidip in the middle with the vinyl. It doesn't look too bad in pictures but in person it's too messy to ignore. Here's some pictures

prep

Finished without number plate

Finished with number plate

Re: My new Bravo :D

looks great matthew and about the lines you dont like did u remove the masking tape after you sprayed it or did you wait until dry

Grille looking good man (y) I know plastidip doesn't always work out that great on the body panels. But I'm sure you won't go wrong if you wrap it

Re: My new Bravo :D

Mate it honestly doesn't look bad at all - I was expecting a horror show when you text me :p

Good things come to those who wait. It will look great when you get it right.

Same as me, I wasn't happy with the front lights, but I've done a "Bravo front headlight mod MKII" and I am happier although it's still not 100% in my eyes. Looks great most of the time, but daylight it's still pretty poor.. I will leave it for now, but when I get the eureka moment I will change them again :p I'll post up the pics tomorrow.

Both you and Shaun are up to no good, he won't tell me what he's doing either. Lmao

Re: My new Bravo :D

So a little update of my own yesterday I got her remapped.

Took her to a garage that doesn't have a rolling road but great recommendations around here. Soon as I told him what engine it is he smiled. Apparently t-jet engines are great to work with. He's mapped about 6 t-jet Punto's, and a couple of Mito's too. Though never a bravo. He was quite surprised the engine was in the bravo. As small turbo'd engines in bigger cars "wasn't really a thing until recently" he said. Anyway his initial price was £80 if I just wanted him to flash the car with the t-jet map he has and used for most of the Punto's/mito's but, I'm pretty sure they have different turbos and I wanted a custom one, or as custom as I could get without a rolling road. Anyway 2 hours and £150 later with many trips up and down the private road he had done it. He reckons the car responded very well to it and advised I get a decent filter for the car and go back to him, he will make a few alterations if I do. (He didn't recommend a cone induction kit funnily enough, just upgrade the cylinder filter in the stock airbox). I told him I'd been thinking about the k&n replacement filter and he seemed to think it would be better. He also liked my little dump valve mod, reckons he could tune more response from the turbo because of it. I drove off and instantly give it some and I could feel a difference straight away as my wheels slipped and the tyres I have are fantastic and very difficult to spin without a fair amount of revs. Long story short I am one very happy guy, he didn't want to specuLate too much about the BHP and Torque figures but reckons he's given it 30% more torque and maybe an extra 20BHP. Doesn't sound like much but my god is it noticeable, went straight around a mates house and I didn't mention the map and he even asked what I'd done to it as it feels "snappier".

So the reason I've waited till now to show you all is I went down the local NSL road and recorded myself doing 0-60 last night. I did it once and recorded myself. I got to 55 before needing to brake. I weren't doing it again. Once was enough as I'm not an idiot that will risk it more than so. But basically I got to 55MPH In 7.2 seconds. I think I could easily hit sub 8 seconds to full 60 as my gear changes where a little laggy. Here's the video for those interested.

Ha thank you :) I'm just more thoroughly impressed by the speed and pull. I don't know if you can tell from the video but the initial pull of the line is actually pretty fierce. I'm pretty impressed by it lmao

Welcome to the remap world! :D I've had my last 2 cars remapped, both diesels, and yes it's a great feeling you get from the first drive. I still get that feeling in my Bravo with my mountains of torque :D

The torque increase is fantastic. As I mentioned above, the initial pull off the line is neck breaking. The fact that it's sub 8 seconds to 60 I can theoretically beat a Fiesta ST in a big family hatchback with a 1.4 engine lmao.

Yea should surprise a few people. Probably the same 0-60 as me but I really struggle with traction when I pull away hard, mine comes into its own from about 40mph. Plus the big heavy diesel lump haha

Isn't yours a sport? So should have traction control option. Mine hasn't got traction control at all. I have to just know how much power to put down without it spinning the wheels. But because I'm secretly the Stig, obviously it's fine haha.

Some may see it as a waste of money, as for an extra hundred or so you can get a full rolling road custom map. I just don't have that £100 at the moment with family and wedding planning. My daughter is going through clothes and shoes quicker than I can get the money out of my wallet lmao.
