Hello

I recently bought a second hand fiat marea. It had only one blue key. I am now very worried about the lack of a red key. In what case should I need one? Also if I do need one FIAT dealership want me to pay around £1000. Has anyone used the codeman.org service to replace theirs? is it good? Also is it possible to get an auto electrician to disable the immobiliser permantly?

I hope you can help me. I was really enjoying my new fiat but this has taken a lot of the inital pleasure off it!!!!

Hi, welcome to the forum.

I'd get another blue cloned to be on the safe side, most keycutters can do this for about £30. If it's any help, I've not needed the red key on either of my cinqs in nearly 5 years and 65,000 miles - and it's the same system. If things did go tits up, which is rare, you could always raid a scrapyard for the parts.

Thank you for your help.

is cloning a key different from getting a key cut. that is will cloning a key copy the information in the chip in the blue key onto the new copied key???

Also do you know if the blue key becomes useless if the battery goes flat or is changed??

thanks again

thank you so much for all your advice and help fixitagaintomorrow. I got two blue keys cut in Timpsons and they both start and lock my car. this leads me to ask, why would I need the red key?

thanks again.

Hi and welcome to the forum :D

The red key is only needed if you have to reprogramme the ECU (rare) or if you buy a new blue key and want to program it into the immobiliser (pointless as you can get a blue key cloned and the Marea does not have personalised driver settings).

Dave :)

Oh, and as Liam says.....
