:bang: Hi Got a S reg 2.0 HLX Maria with One red and Two Blue Keys. all work with the car.

The problem I have is that one blue key has a button with no insides and the other has the button and insides but no Batterys I have put two CR 2016 batteries in, and yes they are in the right way up.

Right the dash LED is flashing and the allarm is off. I can drive etc. but I press the button and nothing much happens. The remote light flickers one tiny little flash but only when i hold the batterys on . its hardly noticable. and thats it.

QUESTION
Has the car forgoten the remote Central locking key or is the fob broken?
can i replace the insides of the empty fob with scrapyard ones and then program them in. If i can How do i do it.

I would be happy if i could just get the one fob working for now.

I'm in a similar situation with mine. I have 2 fobs. One lights up, the other doesn't. I've managed to arm the alarm using the fob that doesn't light up. The one that lights up doesn't work at all. Once armed it takes ages to disarm - to the point that I daren't use it incase it doesn't disarm.

Not got a lot of money to splash out on having work done to the car right now but fingers crossed that will change very soon. Once I know the score with getting these fobs programmed I'll let everyone know.

Hi have you tryed the instructions on page 48 in the fiat marea weekend owner handbook?

Boo Whooo I havent got a manual....

I have got a haynes manual but thats for the Brava and Bravo. but nope i have no car docs what so ever. waiting to hear from the prev owner sent him a letter.

:bang:
LOL
Right his is the situation. I saw the car go through an auction site about two months ago as a non runner due to the accelerastor cable being "snapped" It did not meet its reserve. the car must have gone again and agian. because it ended up with 10 list numbers on the tag. then i went to my normal auction house and was told the cables snapped and it had another 4 listing numbers and the battery was flat.

I bid £200 and won. even though it hadnt met the reserve. Fixed the cable ( fallen off behind the dash) put a new battery in to get it home and drove it back. then noticed the central locking and alarm fob and LED. Flashing dash etc. just need to find out the normal method to re-connect the fob to the car if there is any. My car has no docs as its a repo and the bloke who had it just gave them the keys.

LOL NO V5 But has been HPIed and is all clear and the prvious owner has looked after the car apart from trying in vain to do it up and failing.

V5 only cost £19 and the previous owner has phoned and told me he has all the SH and stuff somwhere I sent him a SAE to post the stuff back.

Its had it timing belt changed recently and new wishbones and the only thing it needs for the MOT is one bulb done already and the Exhaust Back box £70

once its Taxed and MOTed with the service it will be worth a lot more then the £350 I have paid for it it has 62K on the clock and 2 formor keepers i will have to be the 3rd.

I had a similar problem. The micro switch return spring (little flap of metal on top of switch) gets weak. Either press it in slightly or replace the micro switch. I ended up buying a key off eBay and just swapping the microswitch over. Now the button is so sensitive that i keep catching the button when the keys are in my pocket and unlocking the car again:eek:

Hows this for wierd.

My alarm fob hasn't been working since I got the car. It will turn it on and off, but not reliably. Can cause some embaressment!

So away to Scotland we went and I asked Bunny to lock the car - she used the fob. Oh No! I cried.. That will be me setting off the alarm in the middle of some quiet village then tring to get back into the car. Nope she says, it locked and unlocked fine.

I go out to prove her wrong and 'beeeep' it unlocks first time.

I press it again 'beep, beep' - locked. Again.. 'beeeep' - unlocked. Cool, its working. We use the fob all week without issue.

Come out the B&B this morning and nothing. I pressed and pressed the button and nowt. Had to endure 'waaaaaah waaaaah waaaaah' until it finally accepted the key.

So now I'm even more puzzled than before. Does it only work north of Fort William? Or only work when its not going home? So wierd.

I've had a fiddle with the fob and now its working again. Basically I think it had poor battery contacts so a bit of bending of springs and it seems to be good. Why the other fob doesn't work I don't know. The light comes on and it will start the car so I think its genuine - but will it heck operate the remote central locking.

Does anyone in here actually work for fiat?
If so tell us what the little button beside the rear view mirror is for and how to use it.
also how to program new fob into the system if you can.

this Little button and the LED that flashes beside it.

Right according to my manual. You can program the key
By getting in closing the doors but not locking them.
Press a pen into the button by the rear view mirror the
green led will flash keep pressing it and with the key close to the receiver press the
button on the key. the green led should stop flashing on become constant.
release the button on the key then mirror and that should be it programmed! (y)

According to my manual, havent had to try it myself!

Tryed it and my batterys flat again. bugger I am going to check the button tommorow. but can you tell me if i hold the fob button down should the fob lightup flashing all the time or just one flash cos mine only flashes for a millionth of a sec.
