So I just plugged the TomTom from the Punto Evo into my PC. Setup this "Home" software and ran it. It told me there was a map update and so I let it download and install. Oddly an update to install Greek language came up too, which is rather odd and I just unticked it.

But after restarting the TomTom it now tells me

"problem with map, you cannot use this map on this device: Europe-143"

It was the one IT picked and updated automatically!! :bang:

Rather unhelpful it then states, "please select a map", which of course there is only this one installed called "Europe". Select it and it tells me the message above again.

My TomTom has now become a paper weight  As you can't use it.

I'm running home v2.7 and the map is Europe v845.2670

Of course you are only allowed one free update, which appears to have screwed my TomTom. I have tried re-installing it via the options but it just doesn't work.

I've logged a support with TomTom but I just wondered if anyone else had a similar problem?

Now I won't know how to get to work.... no wait a minute... I do... Ah. crap. :yuck:

Hmmm...

So I logged a support thread with TomTom last week, the 8th. (y)

Still had no reply. (n)

TomTom state in their auto-email, "reply in 2 working days".

Sheesh :bang:

I finally had a reply, their solution basically is...

Re-download the map (again) but this time disable all anti-virus and firewall while using the internet to update. Idiots.

Running without protection is the most stupid answer I've ever heard. If the file is blocked via the security then I'd just need to allow it. However, according to all the logs it isn't. :bang:

Yeah of course, I'll just allow my computer to be port scanned by a virus or trojan while TomTom updates. (y)

I seriously regret buying the TomTom package now and should have bought a newer Garmin like I use in the Panda. Sheesh.

Hi ,
I have the EXACT same problem.
Did you ever get this fixed?
Regards,

Jean

Sadly no, as I don't want to run the Home update without internet security.

Interesting you have the same problem, could it be a TomTom Blue&Me problem?

I would stress, if anyone is reading this BEFORE they try that free update, use the BACKUP facility on the Home software. It will make a backup version of your TomTom on your PC. Then if the update screws up, like mine, you can at least restore the older map version back from the PC.

Sadly I found that out AFTER running their update. :bang: So I can't restore the previous setup.

According to one of their FAQs you can try removing the copied map files from your TomTom via the USB, then putting them back again.

I may try this, but frankly the idea of deleting files directly from the drive seems a little dangerous. So if you are going to try that FAQ, be careful what you remove.

Here's that FAQ...
