Just to let you know if you consider letting your tank run low becuase you're not getting paid for a few days yet, in a Sei,be careful. Mine conked out ONLY half way down the red line!!! [:0]lol. Just a tip for fellow stingy gits out there:D;)

I was actually quite surprised how easy my Sei was to push. Pushed in for 10-15 mins then downhill all the way home[8D]

Smurfhead - would trade as Gaz but bit confusing with another guy with the same car on here with the same name. lol

You should have just done what i do, and put £1 petrol in. I swear you'd be surprised how far it gets you.

I put exactly 1 litre in once at sainsburys as a bet from my mates. The cashiers face was a picture i swear we all couldn't stop laughing once i got out side. try it the shock on there face is really worth it, the women who served me looked like she was waiting for a camera to pop out and tell her she's on TV or summot.:D

Don't petrol stations have signs which say something like 'minimum delivery of 2 litres'? A litre would probably take me about 8 miles in my Sei.

My fuel warning light usually comes on when there's almost 10 litres left in the tank (assuming that the tank's 35 litres as the book says).

Surely a bit of better money management would be a good idea? Just a couple of £ would keep the car going for a while.

As the ugly duckling said...all petrol stations I have been to state a minimum delivery amount. This is due to the innaccuracy of the petrol pumps. Any error low down would have a huge percentage error (be it too much or too small) which would be considered either poor business (if too high) or illegal (if too low) in the measurements and weights act I believe. Maybe this is only human controlled however (i.e. no measure of the electronic control systems) and if the petrol attendent is new/dumb/tired, they might not bother.

Never run a car down until it stops, especially not an injection driven car. THe risk of damage is too high. If it does happen, you should change the fuel filter - apparently. The risk is mainly due to the amount of rubbish which ends up inadvertently in the base of your tank (be it solid/liquid) which then gets nicely into your injectors etc. making your nice car not work aswell. Would advise using a fuel additive following this to help clean out any "foreign objects" that have got inside your fuel management system because they are bad news.

Fiat guages -especially- are very inaccurate and not exactly to be relied upon, you will hear of people on here with a full tank having a reported empty tank when going down/up a hill or around a bend! FOr this reason I always try to keep it above a quarter, not always possible but the best practice IMO. I mean it doesn't matter hugely when you fill up, the fuel is always there and worth money, see it as an investment lol.
