Mate of mine drives a volvo with a conversion. It has an additional guage by the handbrake, just three LEDs giving an approximation of how much gas is left and an additional LED showing LPG or petrol being used. The switch from gas to petrol & back is done automatically.
Watching the lights, the car sets off using petrol then smoothly switches to gas at about 15 - 20mph.
Because the gas is cheap, he likes to use it on gas more than petrol - consequently he has run out of both fuels many times as even when the petrol tank is low, he figures there's enough petrol to get it going.

Lol. :p

So switch over is 100% auto, you can't override it an run on say petrol only if you wanted to, or visea versa.

Is auto switch over done on speed or engine temp

No, he can override. The LED is a switch as well, I think it is red normally (running on petrol) and green on LPG and amber for auto.
Sorry, it's been a year almost since I was last in the car.

Many thanks. Thats what I though ta (y)

You know about the auto switch over, when decided to do it as its always starts with petrol dosen't it

with my van there is a switch by the gear lever, the van will aways start on petrol and after approx 1 min it will switch over to gas if the switch is set to gas, this is only when the engine is cold in the morning,

you can switch between gas and petrol whenever you want whilst driving or at idle, the guage on the dash moves to whichever fuel you are using.

done a little video and posted some pictures so you can see what i'm saying,

the video is of the van starting from cold this morning and switching over to gas, with the switch set to gas the red light when its running on petrol, the coolant has to reach a certain tempurature for the ecu to change over to gas.

the 54litre tank is in the spare wheel well.
