when lowering how low can i take the car before needing to replace shocks?

some say over 35mm you should get shocks although no doubt people have gone for 60mm and been fine.

60mm is like slamming it on its arse thou hehe, ive seen rele low cars with just the standard shocks on them, but its deff a good idea to invest, plus you can take corners tht little bit quicker, not that we all wanna thou is it lads??? (hehe) :slayer:

if you are planning to drop the car less than 40mm then if should be fine, if you are dropping it any more then i would recomend that you replace the shocks as well cos my mate did it and had all sorts of problems

i have just bought lowering springs for my punto but it looks like the gearbox and exhaust will catch if i do so do i have to do somting else incase this happens

Hi and welcome, its normally easier to start a new thread, rather than posting to old ones

However, how low are you planning to go? Is this on a mk1 or 2? And are you replacing the whole kit?

If the existing shocks are old they will have worn into a happy** range. Drop the suspension and they wont be happy any more and seals will soon fail. Lots of threads on lowering cars give this info..
