HOw easy is it to do?

I seen some lowering springs on fast fiat that'll take it down 40mm (About what everyone has by the sounds of it) but I dont wanna take it into a garage, I wanna have a go myself, but at the same time I remember the bother we had fitting springs to shocks on my Dads Kit-car.

Also, how does it lower them, are they just shorter springs? i.e., not as long vertically when coiled, so the shocks just slide down to fit their new size?

and does it give anyone any probelms as regards potholes/speedbumps?

Im boxed in by speedbumps so I dont wanna be scraping the arse off it whenever I go anywahere.

All your responses would be greatly appreciated.

Fairly easy to do, just be careful with the spring compressors.

On the fronts, you take the 2 bolts holding the strut to the hub out, and the three holding strut to body at the top. The strut then comes away for you to dismantle.

Rears, you undo the shocker lower bolt and pull the arm down and the spring just pulls out.

Mine are lowered approx. 55mm and it's too low really, I have some problems with speedbumps and parking on kerbs.

Pete, I'm bought some PI 40mm lowering springs and am going to fit them with the standard dampers (for the time being anyway).

I was wondering how much of the bumpstops you think I should cut off so I'm not riding along on them?

I thought I'd ask you as you seem to know pretty much everything that needs to be know Cinq related, and I thought you know what I should do.

Other people feel free to comment on how much you have chopped off your bumpstops to give me an idea of what everyone else has done.

Thanks very much, I hope to get them fitted this weekend.

Ok mate thanks a lot, I've gotta put a new sump on my car at the weekend as the MOT man passed my car, but said the sump was F####D and I'd better get a new one quick. So thats the aim for the weekend, hopefully I won't have to take off my shiney Supersprint Manifold.

If I manage to get that done, reletively quickly and the weather isn't too bad me and my dad are gonna do my springs, thats if my mam hasn't lined up a massize list of jobs for him to do. Here's hopeing she hasn't anyways.

Thanks for the advice.

I'll let you lot know once the weekend is over.
