Hey guys, I went to start the car up for the first time in 3 days (due to the worlds worst hangover) and nothing happend. There was no power at all coming from the battery. The CL wasn't even working, no display on the clock. Any ideas why this could be, taking into account that the battery and altinator are both only about a year old? It started up find with a jump start and runs okay now...

Thanks.

Gary

had same problem once with mine , turned out to be a loose negative battery terminal , you may have moved terminal when connecting jump leads making connection good , worth checking both are tight .

The connectors themself are actually looking a bit worse for wear, can these be replaced easily?

Gary

you can buy replacement terminals easily , you may have to cut original ones off , cables fit into new terminals then held in place with two screws , also clean posts on battery with wire wool or similar .

Don't use wire wool on a battery as you will leave thousands of conductive specks on your battery which might drain it the same way as damp will. Use coarse wet or dry paper. Also, coat the posts and terminals with Vaseline which keeps corrosion away.

BTW, sounds as if something may have been left on, e.g. boot light?

I thought something must have been left on at first, but nope. Boot/doors all closed. Inside lights out. Nothing :S Totaly random. :(

Hello Gary,

check all battery connections, and connections down at starter if possible. If battery is totally dead, then charge it for a while using a battery charger, dont jump start it immediately to prevent possible damage to battery or alternator. If it happens again, you might need to check other connections and see if anything is causing a drain on battery with everything off..

Owen.
