Thats the problem, the software on it. They did a half arsed job of creating a touch-based Symbian OS.
Android and iPhone are leaps and bounds infront of the Nokia software wise. I have the HTC Magic and its an awesome phone, the only thing it lacks is a camera flash...
Day time pictures are pretty good though, even though the phone is only 3mp.
Phone cameras haven't gotten much better since the SE k800i.

I'm using that now as a replacement as my n95 got wet. I attemped to fix it and know exactly whats wrong, the contacts are rusted and needed cleaning up as when I pressed the key it would press lots of others for me, weird to explainThats the problem, the software on it. But mid fixing it, the circuitry snapped. Was so gutted as I was on to a winner
Anyway, the k800i camera is excellent. Flash is best flash I've seen on a phone to date, xenon i tihnk?

Yup, SE, a few Samsungs and Nokia's have implemented a proper Xenon flash IIRC.
My Samsung G800 had a 5mp camera with xenon flash and 3x Optical Zoom. Was quite the camera, except the colours were a little dodgey for my liking.
K800i has gotta be the best IMO.
Mine is still a backup phone for if my main phone goes into repair

I think I'm going to recycle my N95 and go for the N97 too.
About the touch screen, if you put a screen protector on it does it still work as well?? I leave mine loose in my pocket so don't want it damaged ...

thats one thing i was worried about.... the N95 i had before had a lip around the screen and seemed quite robust.... but the N97 is a more a less fully screened and glossy front.... ive got a phone sock for mine... not to sure what a plastic type pouch or somthing would be like... guess one way to see is try.
it takes some getting used to... but im there now.. although im yet to fiddle with the camera and menu layouts etc
