Hi, looking for help in buying!

I am already a member on Fiat Forum and own a Fiat Bravo 2007 1.4 Active for a family run around.

I have always been a Rover Man but finished with the Rovers now has i wasn't getting chance to use the car which was a Rover 220 Coupe Turbo. Well i sold the car last July and now i have time to use a Toy car i really miss it.

So i have always fancy having a Fiat Coupe and now the time to get one, but my problem is i don't know which one. The turbo is the best choice but not essential for me has i would just be happy with a 2.0 20v just for the sound.
I have being looking on ebay and some nice ones about with history, but no receipts to say the work as been done. So has much has i would like to buy i don't want to take the gamble on them. Also don't want to catch a train halfway down the country and be dissapointed.

So now looking to buy one from an enthusiast who will have looked after the car.

So if anybody can point me the right direction i have £1000 to spend on one to join my Fiat family. (y)

Tried to register with FCCUK to get usefull information, but because of an issue i had with a member on a Rover forum over money he owed me, the member got banned and somehow i am linked to that with my address and the administrator will not let me join.

Off subject a member on here his selling a 2.4 Arbarth Stilo, would this be a better option for the engine than a Coupe?

:yeahthat: What dave said

You may be lucky enough to find a good Coupe for £1k but the best ones will be more than that. There's no point getting one with shoddy service history (or just as bad, shoddy paint), if you then spend a fortune replacing cambelts, trying to correct overheating, etc, etc.

I think the 20V n/a is actually better than the turbo in many ways, and can easily be as quick as a badly maintained turbo! The sound from this engine with a stainless system is superb (y)

2.4 Stilo was never as good as it should have been & for ages you couldn't get a proper manual which added to the problems. It doesn't feel special in the way a Coupe does & never will imho.

Off topic again slightly, what car would be best to buy,

1 - Alfa Romeo 3.0 V6

2 - Fiat Coupe 2.0 Turbo

3 - Fiat Coupe 2.0 Nasp

Considering i don't need the turbo, but would be extra if i had it.

Always like the sound from the Alfa 3.0 V6, but like the looks of the Fiat. Also would like to keep the Fiat for a future classic but not going to get near a LE so would the last of the 6speed be the best option?

there is a very good example out there atm, i do know it personally..not my own of course but could well be worth the little extra spend, if you bought one say off ebay for 1k, you might well be looking at another 1k to get it running sweet.

people tend to buy cheap coops, run em to the ground and scrap it, purely because they bought a dog, it is well worth spending the extra to get a decent example which wont cost a bomb to run.

Looks nice, only thing that worry me is the clutch was last replaced 65,000 miles ago and could need replacing soon. Also nothing saying the head gasket as being done. I have being getting a few insurance quotes and it looks like i will need to get a non turbo model to get a decent price.

Really interested in this car, any recommendations on car insurance to go with. I am 41 with 8yrs no claims and only want the car on ltd milage.

Hi, try Neil Willies insurance, they are normally good for coupés. Otherwise Noel Dazely or even Adrian Flux. If you don't feel the need for a turbo kick then go for the NA, the sound is better and probably more reliable (notice that was in italics! You will find a 20V for a grand nowadays, the prices have bottomed out. It's a shame you can't get on Fccuk; the best cars will be for sale there.
