Hi guys, im looking at a 2007 grande sporting 1.4 this weekend hoping to part ex my old fiat in, the car im looking at has done 30,000miles

Just wondered if theres anything specific I should keep my eyes out for

Frazer

Mines 100 miles away from 30k and I have had no problems with it at all. Well apart from the glovebox catch but thats on every model and the steering check that was a recall. But apart from that perfect! Just out of wonder how much are they wanting for it? as it would help me to get an idea how much mines worth.

Ive been looking for a while they range from 5,500 to 7,000 even with 60plus thousand on the clock.

The one i'll be looking at is 5,995 hoping to get it for 5with part ex..

Just out of question how do they pull.. as in up hills for over taking im driving a fiat punto 1.2elx 16valve and thats got the same 0-60 time unbelievably, and want something quicker...

I would get the 1.9 diesiel but the insurance price range is a little bit to much compared to the 1.4 and i havnt found 1 in my price range

The only thing I'd be looking out for is a T-Jet/M-Jet. No offence to 16v n/a owners, but a lot of people do seem to come back here saying that they want something quicker...

This is also worth a look - https://www.fiatforum.com/grande-punto/89495-recalls-known-fault-issues.html

EDIT: And as if by fate, in the time it took me to type my response, something quicker is sought lol. You really do need to get a T/M-Jet then mate. The GP is significantly heavier than the old Punto, which is why it's billed as having the same 0-62 time.

I fully agree with 'Garree001' , I have a 1.4 16v and it's crap, the petrol consumption is diabolical, yet the performance is ok, so it's unjustified... Take it from me, spend that little bit extra and go for an M/T Jet

i disagree with the crap part, i love mine, its fairly nippy and does pull away quickly, however i do agree with 'petrol consumption is diabolical' i seem to be filling up a lot, but all in all a great car, and the 'spend that little bit extra and go for an M/T Jet' generally when you spend more you get more in any case. so its up to you :)

are you getting the same figures as me then? i drive a 1.4 16v with a gsr on it and if im always on the throttle ill get an average of 34mpg, at the moment my average is on 41mpg and all ive done is about 200 miles of city start stop driving, and if i go on the motorway, if i stick to 70- ish ill normally reach my destination on about 44 mpg, which i dont think is bad at all.
and yes i would love to have a t-jet but im perfectly happy with my motor. its as nippy as i need it to be, it sounds great when you put your foot down, in my eyes i get reasonable fuel economy, it looks the dogs nuts and i only have to pay £600 a year on insurance fully comp with all mods declared and im 20 :). but i guess i do miss having some torque!

I thought it was great for MPG i do a 25 min drive to work with country roads, dual road and town and im getting 47mpg on mine and i have not reset the average mpg for about 3,000 miles now. What are you guys getting. P.S. befor any one says I am 19 and dont drive like a granny lol

If you are considering the 1.4 16v N/A, as many others have suggested if you could find the extra money its definatly worth going for the t-jet/mjet. I picked my t-jet up for 1500 more than the 5995 you are looking to spend. The insurance is very cheap, just group 6 (£550 for me 20 with 3yrs NCB) and you get alot more power for your money. I appreciate 1500 is still alot of money, but if you can, do:slayer:

I suppose I'm just being a little harsh atm coz of petrol prices :p ... Your right tho, even thought the performance is'nt great at higher speeds, off the line it's great .... All my driving is in the city so I'm always getting just about 30mpg, which irritates me when i see my mates filling up their aygo's and C1's only once every few weeks :bang: .... However, for the money It has to be the best looking hatch on the market :slayer:

Don't mean to hijack the thread or anything but I'm in a similar situation to you, I'm looking to get a grande 1.4 16v. I like the T-Jet models since they're quicker and not bad to insure, but in terms of second hand models, they are much harder to find, until now I've only been able to find 3 for sale online :(

But yeah, I'd definitely recommend going for one of those instead, even if it means waiting a bit longer, you'll regret it in terms of power if you don't :)

I couldnt resist i've baught the 1.4 16valve sporting.. If i could of found a tjet or mj for the correct price i would of but im not dissapointed at all. Okay its not the most powerful but im overall a very happy camper

5300 :)

Exactly the same as mine, nice.

Parker's have a book figure of 47mpg for the 1.4 16v. I used to have a 12v Corsa, that had a book figure for 48mpg which I got regardless of how driven. In the Punto I've never got better than 46mpg indicate, which was actually only 41mpg when I sat down and worked the sums out.

Sorry to resurrect the thread, but I've been looking for those with info on 1.4 16v n/a mpg.
