Punto Evo Look any better?.

Introduction

Here is my punto evo when I picked it up:
Re: Look any better?

Had a look today after washing the car and im not sure about unscrewing the door panel as knowing my luck it will probably break something. Does anyone know of any ways to improve the sound quality without doing this?

Re: Look any better?

If you want to improve sound quality then drilling out the rivots and replacing the speakers is really your only way.

I actually kinda like the wheels, they wouldn't be my first choice but I don't think they look out of place. If I were you I'd lower it though, even if you only change the springs it'll cost you less than £150 and make such a massive difference to performance and looks.

May have to take the door card off to see if I think it will be easy enough.

Thanks they do look a lot better than before and Many people have commented on them. I know it could do with lowering but not got a lot of money atm so may save up and do it in the near future.

Re: Look any better?

Nice looking car! (y) And alloys are cool, only now Punto looks like djeep, you need to lower it, and it will be gorgeous :))

Re: Look any better?

Not to be one to stereotype but looking at some of the pictures and everything, it kinda looks like you have had the car bought for you... new... (dumbest idea ever for a 17 year old?)?

I'd question how you could afford it at 17 tbh, and, if you did have the money, why didn't you think to spend £2k on an older car (which would look better anyway....) and then spend the rest on some decent insurance which allows you to mod the car?

And when (note when not IF) you crash the car, you'll feel pretty **** that it's not just 'an old banger'.

You've said so many times about how you have no money - so I beg to ask - how did you afford the car????????????? and why the heck didn't you spend less then actually HAVE some money?

Well I am very careful with my money and have borrowed some money off parents but most of it I have had in my Bank.

I wanted a new car and the Punto evo suited what I needed it for. I also wanted a new car as it is designed to be safer too. I am only planning a few small mods so I do not want an old car when I can have a new one and do the mods to it.

As I am not planning to crash and I am unlike the "boy racers" I drive sensable and not 100mph everywhere. I think this is very stereotypical and you need to give people a chance.

I would rather spend the money on a car that has warranty and is less likley to break down than a older car and the Punto Evo looks very stylish!

I dont see what so many people's problem is that a 17 year old can have a new car!

Re: Look any better?

Well done for dodging the question of how you are so 'careful' with your money you managed to save £10k in pocket money.....

And the comment "I am not planning to crash" is just hilarious......... for obvious reasons.

My problem is actually the truth - when I see newly passed drivers in their brand new polo's, punto's, whatever, I actually cringe inside. What a waste of money. You would, hand on heart, be far, far better off with an older car and money to spend. If you know anything about what you are buying, you can buy a decent car that won't need any mechanical work doing to it for a long time. Even if it did need work, it hardly would amount to say £7000 (on a £3k car making it equivalent to a 10k car...)

You come across to me as someone who doesn't NEED a car, but has one purely because they can.

I am careful with my money and have been saving for years. I know I did not pay for all of it yet but I am paying the rest back to my parents atm.

I dont think I would be better off with an older car as I know many people who have got older cars that brake down all the time. All I wanted was a nice car and I would rather not have some money for a while and just scrape by than having a older car. This is my opinion and yours is yours which I respect.

Also I would like to point out I do need a car as I have sporting commitments that are over 300 miles a week of traveling!

Re: Look any better?

Well, to answer your first question, yes, I do think it looks better.

That said, I'd still rather have my car over yours any day.

Re: Look any better?

Curious as to what sporting commitments are 300 miles driving a week, and also at that rate in 3 years time your car going to be rocking at least 50k miles on the clock. Which come to you wanting to trade in you'll get an offer of about 3 grand for it. So i'd stop spending money on making your car worth less if i was you. That's not an insult, just everyone knows the more you modify your car the less its worth because it would have to be sold to somebody with your particular tastes, and judging the entire comments... thats not very many people pal. Just buy a jelly belly air freshener and have done with it. By far the cheapest, and easiest way to get a car bitch is a jelly belly air freshener. Sends the chicks wild :D

Yer I am part of a swim team and it is 40 mile round trip which I do 6 times a week. I know in a few years time it will not be worth much but I aim to put money I do have aside each month to save up for a more sporty car!

I am keeping everything I change on the car so it can be as near to standard when I get rid of it! And then I may just put the mods on ebay.

Got a few air fresherners so should do the job ;)

Re: Look any better?

arguments turn into complements , fiat forum ftw

I think as much as he is being criticized, MrSam is trying to keep it as being constructive criticism.

And whoever implied Fiats are unreliable :ROFLMAO: actually going by their past, the engines far outlast the bodywork! His car will be fine after 15k ;) Do stoopid mods like a few i wont mention, or neglect servicing etc and any car will fault.

MrSam you are planning on modifying your car to your own taste and that is your choice but i can understand you are asking for opinions on the wheels, it seems a bit marmite. If you lower the car it might suit them better :) but watch the insurance! I still think your car would look better with wheels from another GP.

I know many people do not like what I have done but then this is their opinion and I ain't going to loose any sleep over it so I now just don't rise to it.

I argee and I wanted GP alloys but for a decent set with near new tyres would of cost £400+ and consideering mine cost £150 I thought they were a bargain and they will do for the time being. I am looking to keep these on until Feb/ March next year and I will purchase a new set that will be a lot better for the summer months next year :D

Re: Look any better?

I saw a GP with my wheels (mk2b sporting - 5 strut 2 spoke design) and it looked so nice. Made it look a bit like a civic type r to me!!!!

might be worth looking into, they're not too expensive.
