General loneliness of the long distance runner

last night it was requested that i deliver my nephew back to his mothers as my brother car had just gone bang so this morning i embarked on a 464 mile round trip. I picked the little scrote up at 4:00 this morning and i returned home at about 3 ish.

according to my calculations, the exxey has just got 47mpg?! am i figuring this out wrong?

464 miles travelled, 48.65 Litres used = 9.53MPL - 47MPG?

the miles are real miles as taken off the tomtom, not the speedo, and the litres are accurate to about 100ml (i topped the tank off, refilled and refilled again when i got home) granted i was driving like a granny doing about 60 on the m66, m62, a1m. but then at newark its all a roads to cromer! am i doing something wrong?

btw she run like a dream, not a rough idle, not a fart!

I make it about 43.4 mpg. That's still pretty good.

oh yeah, so it does, but still it is a lot isn't it? I thought i'd be getting about 40 on a long run, about 28 around town, and about 15 in lunatic mode.

I can only dream of that sort of figure, im lucky to get 8! 43mm inlet valves cause a serious drinking problem!!!!!

I'm lucky to get 300kms out of a tank of fuel

I think having a burn exhaust valve might have something to do with that

I was travelling towards cromer monday, and passed a fiat x1/9 near whaplode by spalding on the around 11, wasn't you was it?
