My GF's Seicento S has got problems with the lights on the dashboard, they used to go off every now and then while driving, now that it is going dark early they have decided to go off completely and only flicker on at random times (like if dhe hits a bumb etc.). Has anybody got any idea on how to fix this because at night she can not see her speed etc.

Also as I was following her last night I noticed the the rear lights were not working, I got some new bulbs but after fumbeling around in the dark for a while I could not find a way in to change the bulbs, please tell me that there is an easy way to change the bulbs and that I do not have to take the clusters off!

Thanks for the reply.

Bit off a pain in the arse that the clusters have to come off cos it is dark after I finish work and there are no lights outside my house :(

Dont think it has a dimmer for the dash lights but I will check later, what will need replacing if it has? any other ideas if not?

By the sounds of it you have a bad earth on your dashboard. It will be flickering because the car is going over bumps and such. To check this run a brand new earth with a piece of wire directly from the battery to the negative on the cig lighter. This will tell you if i'm right or not

@MotorWorldChink - how do i do that? where is the negative for the cigerette lighter? can yougive me some pointers please, dont want to blow myself up!

Tried changing the bulbs, no joy, also checked all the fuses and the earth wire from the battery. Also noticed that her sidelights dont work either.

The cig lighter will have three wires going to it. On earth one ignition live and a feed from the lights for the circle bit that lights up in dark. just touch it to the side of the cig lighter casing as this outer metal casing is always earth ok

Thanks for your help. Just an update to let you know that it was the stalk switch that was the problem, had that replaced and now everything works fine.
