Technical light on dashboard

just noticed summat on my r reg marea 1.8elx, went out in it tonight and a bulb shaped light stayed on for about 20 secs then went out, just wondered what the light means, its situated near the certre of the speedo

The yellow bulb shaped indicator light in the revs clock means that a side or number plate lamp is blown.
