Thanks Andrew

The plan is to drive down to Guisborough on Friday morning stop two nights there and head home on Sunday.

Are you getting your panda badged up as a Lancia then:D

Cheers

Dave
not really even sure which Panda's gonna be running by the end of the week after I've been 'project'ising them:( one's rusty and immobile and the other's running like a 3 legged dog and needs much other tinkering which might just get neglected while I'm busy trying to get the other rolling.... ah the dilemma.
scruffbag's got no badges at the moment though:chin:

Congrats Dave (y)

It looks fantastic. Like Satans pocket rocket. What sort of reaction are you getting to it?.

Most people have no ideal what the hell it is which is nice :D

Turns a few heads when I boot it as the induction kit makes a hell of a noise

There are a few last minute jobs to get done before Friday like adjusting the drivers seat so I am not so low down and the steering wheel is on the ****.

The gearbox is not the smoothest. I really should have invested in a recon unit rather than taking a gamble on Ebay. Sounds like I am driving a rally car when I pull off but is better once it's moving.

Thanks

Dave

It is not a wheel spinning monster but certainly rapid enough. Until I am happy that everything is bolted togeter and working right I don't want to push it

Will have it on the motorway tomorrow so I will see how she copes.

Having 30+ BHP extra does make a noticable difference but it was 11 years ago when I drove it with the 999cc engine so memory a bit hazy

Cheers

Dave

That was an interesting drive to the airport

Woke up this morning to some heavy rain in Glasgow. Not ideal I thought but it is the west of Scotland. Off I went in the Y10 wiper merrily clearing the worst of what mother nature was throwing at it. That was until it stopped working  Thankfully as the screen is nice and new the water beaded off quite well.

Anyone got any suggestions on how to get some life back in the wiper motor??

Also the strut brace is now hitting the inlet manifold so will need to sort that.

Cheers

Dave

yup, my Y10s wipers packed up in that west of Scotland rain driving back up the motorway to Stirling many years ago. My fix was to park it when I got home, have a look in the morning and they worked again and never did it again.
try that(y) you never know your luck.

Thought that might have worked when I got back to it tonight at the airport but no. Thankfully a dry run home.

Took the motor off and gave it a 'tap' with a hammer and she started working again (y) But to be on the safe side I managed to source another one today which I should get tomorrow. Looking at the forecast for the next couple of days I think it is best to be prepared.

Also took the strut brace off as I can't see any quick way of adjusting the engine mounts to stop it hitting the inlet manifold. Will have a look when I have more time.

There is also a possibility of getting the Y10 featured in a certain car mag for older modified cars. In early discussions but will keep you all posted :D

First priority is getting to Yorkshire though.

Cheers

Dave

is this the same older cars mag that many moons ago was looking for a Y10 turbo to put up against a daihatsu charade GTti in a head to head article and failed? Sticks in my mind that one.

Got back earlier today from a most enjoyable trip to north Yorkshire. 440 miles in the Y10 and it didn't miss a beat.

Here a some pics with some of the fine Lancias that made the trip.

Also realised how small the Y10 actually is when I parked next to a Range Rover Sport

The punto engine certainly makes the y10 very usesable on the motorway. Never felt like I was having to push it to keep up with modern traffic.

On the Saturday afternoon we took a tour through the Moors which were unfortunately masked by fog but that didn't spoil what are great driving roads. I was on the tail of a Delta Integrale Evo for around 20 miles and when we stopped the first thing the guy said was that wee thing can fairly shift :D.

Great feeling getting it all to come together and just shows what you can you if you set your mind to something. There are a few jobs that will need doing like the temperature gauge isn't working and there is water leaking in through the aerial. But all is all part of the joy of owning an Italian car.

Thanks

Dave

It looks like your having fun with the finished article. It doesn't look a poor relation at all compared to the older Lancias. Its quite striking. I just wish I could admire the topside and not the underside of mine. Repairing the rear suspension mountings is proving quite tortuous. Il post some pics when I find the cable to attach the camera.

I was just re-reading the posts. You guys have obviously stumbled across an unlikely Bermuda Triangle for Y10 electrics in west Scotland!

My own bermuda triangle is more rust orientated. Here are some of my latest attempts at repairs.

 Good lord. you have your work cut out. This was the area that needed the most time spent on my Y10 too. Good luck.

Couple of bits of progress. Got a punto rear wiper arm to replace the standard one. Really finishes off the rear of the car.... well almost. Still got the standard pea shooter exhaust on at the moment. But it is booked in with C+C Custom Stainless Steel Exhausts to get a nice 2"" mid section to match up with the Y10 Turbo back box. To make it less raspy I am opting for a 4"" straight silencer in the mid section. Will post some pics when finished.

Cheers

This has appeared on ebay. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Lancia-Autobianchi-Y10-Touring-Spares-or-Repair_W0QQitemZ140397490386QQcmdZViewItemQQptZAutomobiles_UK?hash=item20b057b0d2

If only I had somewhere to put it. I love its LED dashboard and all electric windows :yum:

I saw it yesterday (not that I check ebay every other minute for Y10's honest :p) Reminds me of my Y10 before I got my teeth into her.

Whenever I see the lovely electrical additions that can on some y10's my heart sinks as they always come back to bite you at some point :bang:

My car is getting its nice new stainless steel exhaust tomorrow. Will post some pics. Have been trying to source a Supersprint manifold but been finding it difficult. Anyone know who stocks them for the 8v FIRE engines?

I have decided not to go down the turbo route with this engine. The cost could get significant and it might result in blowing up a good low mileage engine. The long term plan is to look at a one of the T-Jet or M-Jet 1.4 engines like Lewey's Panda.

Did you ever consider a rear mounted turbo. It sounds counter intuitive but retro cars ran a feature on it and seemed to make a lot of sense. It also seemed a lot cheaper and easier than standard turbo installs.
