Seeing this I really am getting inspired to do a similar job with my wifes Subaru. Like your car it needs a couple of wings, 2 drivers side doors and a few other things. Needs a complete respray as well as the paint is very dull in places. Almost tempted to make it an engine out job so I can change the colour too :D

Go on, you know you want too (y)

It is amazing what you can get done with a few late nights and a days leave today.

Got a couple of bits to sort tonight and tomorrow night so should be OK for MOT on Saturday.

Cheers

nice, looking more like a proper honest to goodness 'hop in and drive it' car now rather than a project.

Did hop in and drive it earlier for all of 50 yards  Feels good. Nice thoaty noise from the K&N. It is also very firm when I went over a speed bump  Looking forward to seeing how it handles on the open road.

Cheers

A little later than planned, MOT booked for Monday afternoon. Couldn't get it done today as I was still waiting on a new rear seat belt coming through the post.

Now I have a couple of days/ nights to go over everything once more to make sure I have not missed anything.

Will be very very strange actually driving it on the road after so long.

Keeping everything crossed for Monday.

Cheers

Dave

I'm sure you won't, but good luck anyway! (y)

Thanks Vernon.

Another 1am finish this morning trying to get all the bits of trim and finishing touches.

Be grateful that pandas don't have central locking or electric window as they are giving me a big headache at the moment. :bang:

Cheers

The old girl failed

Only two minor points. Firstly as I have used headlights from a left hand drive Y10, the dipped beam kicks up the wrong way. There is no adjustment on the headlight itself unlike modern units so I think the solution will be some horrible black stickers to correct this. Does anyone know who sells these? Had a quick look on Euro car parts but can't find them

The second fail point is the emissions. Perhaps this is due to the engine hasn't been running for at least two years. The MOT guy suggested a good thrash with some good fuel and a fuel aditive to clean things out. Anything else I should try?

Glad it is only these two point and nothing major. The electics did start playing up with the indicators starting and stopping randomly and the horn sounding without it being pressed

Sorry to hear it Dave. Modern units cannot be adjusted either though.

Try eBay for the deflectors (y)

As for use issue, run it very low on fuel (fumes almost) and chuck in a whole bottle of redex. Then gun it and add a tank of Shell V-power (y)

Okay. MOT retest tomorrow. LHD headlamp deflectors in the post and lots of useful ideas on how to get the emissions down from you guys and those in the Punto section.

Cheers

Dave

Bring out the dancing girls, she passed :D

Headlight beam deflectors were really easy to fit and sorted the dipped beam issues.

Emissions were a bit more of a pain. Took the Y10 for a 15 mile hard run before the retest and the CO levels were almost the same as they were on Monday :bang: Took the air filter off which helped a bit but still not enough. There was a bit of a blow around where I had welded in the lambda boss which the MOT guy kindly filled with some paste which helped a little.

Fundamentally though, the MOT guy's view was that as I am not running a CAT the emissions are going to be really hard to get down. So a bit of playing about with the exhaust probe got a CO pass (y)

Also got 4 wheel laser alignment done at the same time which made a huge difference for the drive home.

Now need to get some miles under my belt before my 400 mile round trip next weekend to Yorkshire.

Cheers

Dave

congratulations, great to hear it's finally hitting the road. Coming past next weekend for the Lancia club do then?

Thanks Andrew

The plan is to drive down to Guisborough on Friday morning stop two nights there and head home on Sunday.

Are you getting your panda badged up as a Lancia then:D

Cheers
