Hi I've got a sun roof in my marea, and I'm sure that there is a leak into the ceiling area on the driver's side...

there is a damp patch too above my head next to the sun visor which drips down onto my seat/head (depending if i'm in it or not)...

However... if I park with the driver's side on the kerb, ie so the roof slopes to the passenger side - no leak, but if I park the other way round, so the roof slopes to the driver's side - wet bum again! I put a plastic bag on the seat the other night and emptied about half a pint of water out the next morning!

I'm guessing that there are some drainage holes in the ceiling area and that the driver's side is blocked - hence the drip

Anyone know how I might fix the problem, preferably without having to take the inside of the car apart first?

Cheers,

Luke

Common fault on these models,if the drain plug isn't blocked you will probably have to drop the front of the sunroof & put some sealer in there. There is a seal you can get but it's advisable to use sealer aswell.
Not a big job by any means but just make sure it's gonna be a dry day before you do it

I had a dead moth in mine that caused water to back up.

Try this first: Open the roof and fish around the front end of both runners/channels with a bit of wire to see if you can find any loose blockage.
Clean and lightly grease the channels and runners.
There is an article on sunroof removal here:

Go to repair guide/interior, it's just past arial leaks and door leaks. ;)

Thanks Polecat, that guide is really helpful... I was looking at what i would need to remove to get the head liner out and was worried that the dashboard had to come out first so that the front pillar covers can come off!

Cheers,

Luke
