Well, my car went in to have the paint defects I've mentioned before on here dealt with this week.
Anyhow, I've also had a problem of a bad smell in the car for a couple of months (no, its not me
).
This weekend I finally tracked it down to the drivers side carpet, which in the heat, was soaking wet and smelt like an old dish cloth. A little bemused I looked under the vin plate flap to find the floor swimming in water
The water is stagnant, and obviously is evaporating, then condensing in my carpet in hot weather, hence the stink!
SO:
I take it in, and mention this, to be fair, Reg Vardy were very helpfull and suggested it may be the aircon leaking. Which made sense.
Anyway, on picking it up today the paint job is crap, and the leak couldn't be traced to the AC so they had given up on it
However, when I pointed this out to the manager, he was in total agreeance with me
He didn't pretend to not see the obvious floors in the paint
and upon seeing the pool of water (which was actually considerably deeper than it had been!) he said, 'this is no good, take the courtesy car back and we will sort it'
What is going on? On the one hand I am gutted at finding such a fault with my car, but on the other hand I am stunned at such customer service from Reg Vardy who have previously been crap. Perhaps my complaints haven't fallen on deaf ears?
Anyway, I'm now driving an 04 reg 1.4 Active, which had a total of 28 miles on the clock when I got in it on Monday
I am actually very pleasantly surprised by this model, and when you consider what you can haggle the price down to I'm surprised we don't see more base model Stilo's about.
OK, they're no street racers and they aren't as plush as other models, but you effectively can get biggish car comfort for the price of a mid spec super mini.
Anyway, enough of my ramble, just thought I'd keep everyone up to date on my Fiat related happening, instead of talking about what fights I've got myself into
