Last Minute Computer Help

Hi yes I know I'm doing Computer Science but that doesn't mean I can make bloody Windows work does it!!

OK, turned it on this morning, loads up real slow but as normal but then won't run any programs. Start menu is fine but then when you open anything including control panel, my comp or a program it just does the timer for a bit then stops.

I'm in safe mode now and everything is fine - working fast and as normal. System scan finds nothing as does antivirus stuff (although I don't think it's internet related), spyware stuff and system restore doesn't do anything either.

Any ideas?? Thanks for any help. Feel free to post anything you like.

Yep I meant the hourglass. Last thing I installed was probably power dvd but that was about 2 weeks ago...

weird... usually at work we just reboot the machine and it works again... no doubt u've tried that.

What a joke it works fine now after resarting it again using last month's restore point. Yesterday didn't work and neither did last week so I don't know what that's all about!!! Thanks anyway Redsieall sorted.

Have you tried to 'sytem restore' it to an earlier date. I dunno if this will help you, but usually it works for me .

haha what a coincidence! Thanks anyway though. Bloody Windows if it was crapped up a month ago why on earth has it been working all this time?!!

Why does Windows just get worse... when I had Win3.1 ten years ago it worked just fine and fitted on a couple of floppies!

windows 3.1 killed a hdd at work
i got nostalgic.. and thought i'd install it for a laugh...
got the MS-DOS disks... then started windows.. and it failed and the drive wouldn't get recognised by anything!
