Right i trial fitted my Lancia Beta Wheels to my cinq the other day, Backs are fine, Fronts hit GT calipers! (on the inside of the spoke) I put a few spacers and longer bolts on, so i had 3mm standard spacer + 6mm & 3mm spacers and it still hits... now im confused..

The wheel specs are as follows..
Lancia Beta Wheels: 5.5x14 Inches with a ET of 34
Sei Abarth Wheels: 5.5x14 with an ET of 36 (fitted for ages with only standard 3mm spacers at front)
So the Lancia wheels are 2mm less offset, so by putting 9mm extra spacers i should be 7mm clear!
Now im thinking the dish on the wheels may make a difference??? Pics below

Basically i need money so im selling the Seicento Speedline Abarth Wheels which i found out are Speedlines! And getting some partworn tyres on these.. ive got 7 of them, 5 need a refurb, 2 brand new but have been sitting in the garden so now need a refurb ideally, no probs as ive got a sandblaster, spraygun and a few sheds.. planning on white or light anthra middle and polished lip maybe (or diamond cut if i can find out how to do it!! :bang:).

I am going for a stud & nut conversion but i need to know what length i should order first! i was looking on ebay and theres these 32mm euro look spacer kit with stud extensions http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI....MEWA:IT&viewitem=&item=120109795950&rd=1&rd=1 only problem is i dont want to go too far out and be outside the wheel arch (illegal).. plus ive got the 6speed box so the passenger side is pushed out a tiny bit iirc.

So back to the questions.. why is it still rubbing? is it the dish? what spacer size do i need! Will the above spacer kit do? Or will that be too much?

Cheers

Craig

design of the wheels, bigger spacers will cure it... i think i have a spare pair of FK 15mm hubcentric spacers if you're interested? would need to check though

I had same problem with my ml's, they need 10mm spacers to clear the calipers due to the design of them

Well for one your Sei Abarth wheels were meant to be fitted with 10mm spacers as per Fiat on the Car originally, so they were fitted wrong in the first place as the front should be ET 26 (ET36 wheel+10-mm spacer), but as you are experiencing difficulty with the fronts on a ET of 25 (wheel ET34 +9mm spacer)

I would recommend a 15mm spacer to give ET19 on front only this should not only clear the brake callipers but give you a useful increase in front track.

You can of course work out exactly what you need by fitting all spacers to one side and then using washers to build up until you can confirm wheel is clear and that then is size of spacer you need.

Aaron.

cheers guys, yea i know they didnt have the 10mm spacers on the front but ive bin tight on money for a while now and they worked ok without so i thought id leave them as was. Tomorrow morn I am going to put all my spacers on to see when it clears, so will try 3+6+6 so 15, and if not then add another 3.. i hope it all fits!
im looking at tyres but i don't know what to put on there.. ive got the 175/50/14s on the speedlines which are now sold so i cant swap them back over! ive been offered BN 185/50 Goodyears for £50+Vat each, so looking at £235ish.. but i then need them fitted so im thinking maybe a nice stretched part worn 165/55 should look ok on the 5.5" rim? plus theyre only £15 a tyre fitted!! for very good tread apparently!

I'd be very lairy about running 165/55s with those brakes, especially as they're going to be of an unknown (and possibly mixed) quality.

Personally, I'd sell the Beta wheels and buy some 6J ones so I could put 195/45/14 Uniroyals on. Did I tell you I got some 15" 6J Alfa wheels for £50 a couple of weeks ago? :D

Failing that, and I've never run them, the BFs seem a reasonable compromise.

well the so called tyre guy i was going to use has turned out to be an absolute numpty! he said there is no such tyre as 175/50/14, 185/50/14 (had both on my cinq) and 165/55 (available on mytyres!) so i think im going to look elsewhere, although he did say he will fit tyres for a 5er at my place!
Fingers what width were your 15s? im currently looking at some 15x7s with ET37 fitted with 195/45/15s (smaller overall dia than my current 185/60/14s). i am getting these for my vw jetta mk2 but may temporarily fit to the cinq with some wobblys ;)

To be fair to the tyre guy, the part worn folk seem to find it very difficult to get tyres in sizes we'd appreciate, but that's no excuse for denying their existence.

My new wheels are 6J. I know they'll fit OK with a bit of attention to offset, (Aaron & Emma snagged some 6J 15" for the 1360 Sei) but 7J may be a problem. I'd be inclided to pick up some cheap wobble bolts and try it: you could always sell off the bolts if it doesn't work.

well the wheels i was looking at were Ronal Turbos on ebay, about 10mins drive away and with brand new 195/45/15s on, i had some suspicions though as Bidder 2 went to £250 straight away, then £300 on the last day, then £320 by the looks of it, to me sounds like a mate of the seller, hate the new hidden identity things! so when there was 1min to go i bid £311 (current bid was £300) as i didnt really wana go higher than £275 originally, especially as i didnt know if i could fit them on (he didnt know the width)! and they had a bit of kurbing, but i was thinking of fitting them to my VW Jetta MK2 in the long run, but they went for £330 in the end..
shame, oh well, Lancia wheels are nice and shiny now ready to be painted, theyve got a really nice edge thats already polished.. now just to carry on trying to source some nice tyres but i don't wana pay £250 for a set tbh.. 165/55s should be fine as theyll fit from 4.5-6J wheels apparently, or ideally 175/50s if i can get another set, as i sold my Speedlines with my near new ones on the other day! :bang:
btw i keep seeing Alfa 147s with your new wheels on, they are so nice mate, love them.

If you find you need 15mm spacers, I'd definitely go for the FK hubcentric spacers in that width (or whatever you need) - and don't forget that FK measure their widths as the total increase in track, so you need to halve that to find the width of the spacer on each side. I got 5mm FK spacers for the front of the Y10, for a similar caliper-clearance problem with some 127 Palio alloys, and they worked great.

Hope you go for the Beta wheels! I predict they will be this year's 'in' wheel. Coincidentally I just got a set to put on my Y10...
