My Lambda sensor lights up when the car is warm, sometimes when accelerating, sometimes decelerating, sometimes at high revs, sometimes at low revs and sometimes not at all. My MPG does not appear to be effected although the car does sometimes feel to have flat spots. Any ideas?

Pete,
I understand how to change the sensor, can you explain what the map is please? The problem seems to be getting steadily worse, I drive 44 miles to work and back along good A roads so it gets up to temp etc. Will I damage the car if I have to wait to get it sorted? I actually I think my little Cinque is great but I hate it right now.;) Thanks for the advice. -FH

Map sensor means Manifold Absolute Pressure sensor - it basically looks at how much suction is in the inlet manifold to try to guess the correct ignition timing and fuelling. It's mounted under a plate right behind the ecu, on top of the passenger inner wing. Look for a thin black pipe going from the manifold up to it. Check this pipe thoroughly for cracks and splits, blow through it to see it's clear.

My money's on the Lambda sensor though.

Pete.
